Jim Cardwell is a Master's degree holder in Economics from the University of Manchester in England, Jim Cardwell's remarkable career with WB started in 1977 when he joined the corporate finance department from Price Waterhouse Coopers. Mr. Cardwell spent nearly thirty years at Warner Bros and was president (worldwide) of the world's largest home video distribution company, Warner Home Video, from 2002 to 2006. A $5.5 billion global operation with 1,700 employees and 25 subsidiaries, WHV's revenue stream and profitability increased by 10-35% each year and maintained the #1 market share in the home entertainment industry during Cardwell's tenure as president. He created two new divisions (TV on DVD and Special Interest), which each contributed $1.5 billion in annual sales in less than three years and was instrumental in paving the way for WHV's strategic positioning in emerging technologies such as Hi-Def DVD, electronic sell-though, portable video, etc. He was responsible for Warner Home Video's purchase of video distribution rights to the MGM, UA, Cannon, Thorn EMI, and other libraries. His tremendous contributions to WHV helped it grow to the world-leader position.
Jim served on the Management Committee for Warner Bros from 1996 to 2006, which was responsible for all theatrical film releases and all P&A decisions made on each film. Jim also served as the deciding vote on the green light committee from 2002 to 2006 and was the head of legal and distribution contracts for the studio.
In 2007, Jim launched JFC Consulting providing consulting services and short-term financing for entertainment-related projects. In 2012, he acquired E-T Pictures, a full-service North American motion picture distribution company with a library of over 250 titles.
Jim has been Chairman since 2013 of CARU Pictures to present, which was formed to acquire literary rights and produce motion pictures based on such rights.
Now, leveraging on his formidable expertise and legal degree, Jim is an entertainment industry entrepreneur and is expanding his horizons to the content production end of the entertainment industry, with a special focus on strategic financing and new business development for projects.
