Netflix's "Stranger Things" is so infused with the paranormal that a central season 1 arc features a lost family member communicating from the other side. Granted, the "other side" here is the decrepit alternate dimension called Upside Down, and the very alive Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) is simply using its strange logic to communicate with his mother Joyce (Winona Ryder). Still, the sentiment is there, and the show eventually reveals that certain people do seem to return from the dead.
One of them is Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), the ominous doctor who's responsible for the tests performed on psychokinetic powerhouses like Jane "Eleven" Hopper (Millie Bobby Brown) and the series' big bad Vecna, aka Henry "One" Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower). Modine knows a lot about "Papa" Brenner. In an interview with Vulture, he stated that the supposedly dead character may still have unrevealed aces up his sleeve,...

In honor of 2024’s Stranger Things Day, Netflix has revealed the episode titles for the hit show’s fifth and final season.
The mega-streamer also confirmed the season would be released in 2025 and not in 2026 as was briefly speculated online.
Stranger Things season five will have eight episodes, like almost all of the previous seasons, except for seasons two and four, which both had nine.
The episode titles are: “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of _____,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge” and “The Rightside Up.”
While the video (below) revealed all the titles of the episodes, there appeared to be someone or something censored out of the title of the second episode, “The Vanishing Of.” Whatever (or whomever) is vanishing, Netflix is not quite ready to share. The title also hints at a potential throwback to the first episode of Stranger Things, “The Vanishing of Will Byers.

On Wednesday, aka the anniversary of the day in 1983 that Stranger Things’ Will Byers was taken by the Demogorgon, Netflix marked the occasion by revealing the titles of all eight episodes that will make up the beloved series’ fifth and final season. In addition to “The Crawl,” which was revealed two years ago (!), they are: “The Vanishing of,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge” and “The Rightside Up.”
That last one should give fans hope that, no matter how high the death toll of the episodes, we’ll be getting at least a happy-ish ending.

Writer/director Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 horror classic Witchboard (watch it Here) is getting the remake treatment couresty of director Chuck Russell, who was bringing us the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and the remake of The Blob back in the days when Witchboard was gathering its earliest fans. The Witchboard remake doesn’t have a release date yet, but JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols was able to watch it earlier this year (you can read his review at This Link) and talk to Russell and star Madison Iseman about it (you can watch the interview Here), so hopefully it won’t be much longer before more of us have the chance to see the movie. The character of Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things has a tragic history, having lost a young daughter named Sara to cancer – an illness he blames on the fact that he served in the Chemical Corps during the Vietnam War and worked with Agent Orange. Sara was glimpsed in flashbacks in the season 1 finale, where she was played by child actress Elle Graham. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production, and Sara will be making another appearance in this last batch of episodes – but that Stranger Things season 1 finale was eight years ago, so Graham, who is now 15 years old, has aged out of the role. That’s why Carmen Cuba Casting has sent out a casting call letting us know that Stranger Things is looking for a new, US-based actress who resembles Graham and can play Sara in Stranger Things season...

Noémie Merlant found she had a lot in common with her character in Emmanuelle.
Her involvement in Audrey Diwan‘s new film, in the titular role, was so influential that she says it helped her re-examine her own relationship with female pleasure. “Like Emmanuelle, I was completely disconnected with my body,” the French actress tells The Hollywood Reporter.
With its world premiere opening the San Sebastian Film Festival Friday night, Emmanuelle has received buzz for its graphic content. Diwan’s movie, starring Naomi Watts (Mullholland Drive, Birdman), Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), is inspired by Emmanuelle Arsan’s erotic novel — and this eroticism certainly helms the project.
Emmanuelle focuses on a woman on a business trip to Hong Kong working with a luxury hotel group. Searching for a lost pleasure, she seeks her arousal in experiences with some of the hotel’s guests. One of them,...

The 72nd San Sebastian Film Festival is underway after the world premiere of Audrey Diwan’s racy flick Emmanuelle kicked off the festivities in Spain.
The film, which boasts stars such as Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), Naomi Watts (Mullholland Drive, Birdman), Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), is inspired by Emmanuelle Arsan’s erotic novel. Chacha Huang and Anthony Wong round out the cast, all of whom, barring Watts, appeared briefly onstage before the showing at the city’s Kursaal Theater.
The director’s project centers around a woman, Emmanuelle (Merlant), on a business trip to Hong Kong working with a luxury hotel group. Searching for a lost pleasure, she seeks her arousal in experiences with some of the hotel’s guests. One of them, Kei (Sharpe), seems to constantly elude her. French director Audrey Diwan is opening the San Sebastian Film Festival this evening with third feature Emmanuelle, in the company of its star Noémie Merlant and supporting cast members Will Sharpe, Chacha Huang and Jamie Campbell Bower.
Diwan, who won Venice’s Golden Lion for abortion drama Happening in 2021, has taken inspiration for her first English-language picture from Emmanuelle Arsan’s erotic novel, originally published clandestinely in France in 1959 and then officially in 1967.
The work sparked a franchise of erotic, soft porn films, kicking off with Just Jaeckin’s 1974 cult movie, starring Sylvia Kristel as a woman who joins her diplomat husband in Bangkok where she embarks on a series of sexual adventures.
In Diwan’s contemporary adaptation, Merlant plays hotel quality control agent Emmanuelle, who is sent to audit a luxury hotel in Hong Kong, where she comes up against a steely hotel manager, played by Naomi Watts.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now deep into its twelve month shooting schedule… So deep, in fact, that the cast has gotten together for a read-through the script for the final episode – and while speaking with ComicBook.com, cast member David Harbour revealed there was “heavy weeping” during the reading of that script.
Stranger Things has the following synopsis: A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events.

Sadie Sink has had one of the hardest jobs in Stranger Things. After a hugely successful first season, her character Max was introduced in season 2, and Sink had the pressure as a child actor to join an established and hugely popular cast. However, she slotted in seamlessly, becoming one of the show's most beloved characters. Max will play a key role in the show's fifth and final season.
In the end of season 4, Max was left in a coma following a big battle with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Her state was precarious, but she'll no doubt recover and rejoin the fight in the show's ultimate showdown. "They love having me run," Sink told Variety when asked about whether Max will find herself in a better way in season 5.
From her relationship with her brother to the terrors of Vecna, Max's journey so far has been an emotional rollercoaster. In fact,...

Despite a recent surge in popularity due to the hit Yellowstone, Kevin Costner’s posse of grown-up, Western-loving movie-goers failed to show up at cinemas this summer to support the first part of his (partially) self-financed epic “Horizon: An American Saga.” When the wheels got stuck in the mud, the Emmy-winner and two-time Oscar-winner paused the release date of “Chapter 2,” originally set for August 16, and left the future of the project (it was originally intended as four movies) in doubt.
But reinforcements are on the way. “Chapter 1” will make its way to streaming service Max next week. Friday, August 23, to be exact. That’s not a bad weekend, as it’s the one right before Labor Day; looking at my own calendar, I see it’s a rare one this summer where I didn’t make any plans. Stream 'Horizon' On Max $9.99/Month
The first installment of his western series, which he starred in, co-directed, co-wrote, produced and co-financed, details the life of several characters in the American West during and after the Civil War. Costner planned for the “Horizon” saga to span four movies, the first two of which were shot back to back, but after the first film’s box office disaster it’s unclear how the series will continue.
The second movie in the “Horizon” franchise was pulled from its Aug. 16 theatrical release date, after the first film earned only $11 million at the box office its opening weekend despite its approximately $100 million dollar budget. Costner stated that he spent $38 million of his own money to finance the film.

The newly recast character in Netflix's Stranger Things Season 5 was spotted on set with both Mike and Will.
Recently, set photos confirmed that Evil Dead Rise actress Nell Fisher joined Strangers Things Season 5, seemingly as a recast of Holly Wheeler, the younger sister of Mike and Nancy Wheeler.
Those same images reveal an intriguing scene in which she interacts with a very human-looking Jamie Campbell Bower. To make it even more interesting, they were in front of the old Creel house.

Sadie Sink is admitting that she didn’t anticipate her “Stranger Things” character Max to be such a breakout star.
The actress told Variety that after joining the hit Netflix series in Season 2 at age 14, she could not have predicted the viral adoration for her role of Max by Season 4. The cliffhanger ending for the season included Max being in a coma after facing off with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
“I really didn’t think people would care all that much about her journey,” Sink said. Even when Max went viral with the “Running Up That Hill” sequence, Sink was still shocked: “I was kind of like, ‘That’s cool.'”
The “A Sacrifice” actress added, “I think I’m definitely numb to a lot of things now, which is a good thing. I think it keeps you stable.”

Will "Stranger Things" go full "Game of Thrones" and kill off most of its characters in its fifth and final season? If stars Millie Bobby Brown and Maya Hawke have any say in the matter, it might -- although showrunners/creators Matt and Ross Duffer seem a tad less inclined to end their remarkably-popular '80s nostalgia-fest with a no-holds-barred bloodbath. Not that this means everyone will be alive and well by the time the good people of Hawkins have concluded their battle with the scheming Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). In fact, we know for sure one member of the "Stranger Things" gang will be (temporarily?) out of commission when season 5 begins.

Plot: Emily and her friends find a Witchboard in the woods. Using it results in deadly consequences. They have to stop it before it’s too late.
Review: Few films in the horror genre are more entertaining than The Blob and A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. They bring a great mix of over-the-top violence with humor. So I was ecstatic to see writer/director Chuck Russell make his return to the genre for the first time in nearly 25 years. Setting his sights on updating the 1986 film Witchboard, which itself was a play on the popular Ouija board, this seems prime for the modern era. So, it’s upsetting for me to say that 2024’s Witchboard is a bit of a mess.

After helming some of the most significant practical effect horror films of the ’80s, writer/director Chuck Russell returns to the genre for the first time in twenty years with Witchboard (2024).
Ostensibly a remake of Kevin Tenney’s 1986 film of the same name, the new film adopts a few key elements of the original, including a shower set piece, the possession of its female lead, and a board used to communicate with the dead, but, aside from that, the 2024 film is mostly doing its own thing.
Witchboard opens with a prologue set in 1693 France as Bishop Grogan (David La Haye) battles witch Naga Soth (Antonia Desplat) and her coven in the woods. What jumps out immediately is the evocative set design, including a tree filled with amputated hands, and the exciting action as the cavalry arrives with guns blazing just in time.

My Witchboard’s back and you’re gonna be in trouble. Hey la, hey la, my Witchboard’s back! The board is back in the new remake Witchboard (2024) from horror legend Chuck Russell, who fans will no doubt remember as the director behind our beloved A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Russell is no stranger to remakes, having also made the jaw dropping The Blob (1988), and his turn here at Kevin Tenney’s Witchboard (1986) is a bewitching re-imagining of the 1980’s cult classic, perfect for your next movie night with friends.
Flipping the board the script on the original, Russell (who as co-wrote the screenplay with Greg McKay) sets the story in modern day New Orleans, using an older round style witchboard rather than the classic Oujia. Over his 40-year career, director Chuck Russell has had a knack for turning hungry young talent into movie stars, regularly conjuring memorable performances. He advocated for Patricia Arquette to be the lead in her first film role, 1987’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” He made Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz household names in his 1994 blockbuster “The Mask” — knowing Diaz was perfect even though it was her first movie. And he helped transition Dwayne Johnson from wrestling to the acting world by having him star in the 2002 epic “The Scorpion King.”
No matter the genre, scope or budget, Russell loves seeing what raw talent can achieve — a fascination he picked up while cutting his teeth in the world of theater.
“We have to humanize these things, whether it’s action or comedy or drama,” he says. “You gotta get into your performers’ heads. You gotta get their actual personality into their performances.

But then again, fans should be...
