Commander Paul Stamets has tardigrade DNA thanks to combining his own genetics with a tardigrade named Ripper. Stamets' tardigrade DNA lets him navigate the USS Discovery through the mycelial network. Stamets invented the USS Discovery's spore drive, and he is unaffected by temporal disruptions thanks to his tardigrade DNA.
It's true: Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp), the inventor of the spore drive on Star Trek: Discovery, has tardigrade DNA. Discovery's displacement-activated spore hub drive is a classified propulsion system unique to Star Trek: Discovery, and an alternative to the warp drive that's usually seen on Star Trek's starships. Rather than warping space-time to travel faster than light, the spore drive actively displaces the USS Discovery from normal space into another plane of existence, the mycelial plane. During a jump, or "black alert", Discovery travels along the mycelial network, an interconnected structure that branches through space-time organically.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episodes 1 & 2!
Starfleet's decision to abandon the spore drive in Discovery season 5 is a smart move for the future of the franchise. The spore drive's ability to instantly transport the USS Discovery can hinder dramatic tension and urgency in storytelling. The new pathway drive technology will likely power the adventures in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, replacing the spore drive.
Star Trek: Discovery has revealed that Starfleet is ditching the groundbreaking spore drive, which is a good thing for the future of the franchise's 32nd century timeline. The USS Discovery's spore drive was an experimental technology from the 2200s that became invaluable in Star Trek's dilithium-starved 32nd century. Pioneered by Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and his research partner, Straal (Saad Siddiqui), the spore drive was a way to navigate a subspace mycelium network of fungal roots that spanned the entire universe.

Exclusive: Chris Gray (The Society) is set to play young Ray in Showtime’s follow-up feature-length movie Ray Donovan. The film picks up where Season 7 of the popular series left off following its surprise cancellation last year, with Mickey (Jon Voight) in the wind and Ray (Liev Schreiber) determined to find and stop him before he can cause any more carnage. Gray plays the younger version of Schreiber’s Ray Donovan. Like his older self, he is a physically imposing young man who can convey much with only a few words and is decisive and calm in times of crisis. The film is executive produced by Hollander, Schreiber, Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Lou Fusaro. Gray was recently seen in a recurring role in The Society and in the feature Almost Love. The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 41 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 13; last year only 28 TV movies were submitted.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 28 to cast their 2021 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017 that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017 that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

Title: Inescapable Director: Ruba Nadda Starring: Alexander Siddig, Marisa Tomei, Joshua Jackson, Oded Fehr, Saad Siddiqui In 2009, Arab Canadian filmmaker Ruba Nadda delivered a romance set against a significantly chaotic sociopolitical backdrop in the form of “Cairo Time,” starring Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig. She imprints a different genre exercise against a similarly tumultuous Middle Eastern setting, though with far less fetching results, in “Inescapable,” a jumbled mixture of political mystery and questing-father drama also starring Siddig. The story unfolds in early 2011, before the wider effects of the Arab Spring helped plunge Syria into civil war. White collar Canadian family man Adib Kareem (Siddig) finds his blissful domesticity [ Read More ]

'Saturday Night Live' took another jab at Robert Pattinson during a 'Live! With Kelly & Michael' skit. Do You think it was harsh? Watch and find out more details! Robert Pattinson got the Saturday Night Live treatment on September 22 -- just as Kristen Stewart did on Weekend Update Thursday on September 20. The show started with a mock version of Live! With Kelly & Michael, where Jay Pharoah's plays Michael Strahan, poking fun at himself, talking about how easy the job was, how small Kelly Ripa is, and how silly his own laugh is. However, the best part of the skit was when an imitation of Rob came out as a guest. A number of his "flaws" were poked at such as his brooding and his insistence of not talking about his relationship with K-Stew! His behavior also alternated from being giddy to being depressed. While the show was making fun of Rob,...

Seth Meyers mocked Kristen's reported reconciliation with Robert Pattinson on the Sept. 20 episode of 'Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Thursday.' Do You think it was funny or harsh? Watch and read on for more details. Saturday Night Live may have forfeited any "Robsten" jokes during its season premiere on Sept. 15, but during its Weekend Update Thursday episode, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's reported reunion was the butt of a joke! During "Weekend Update," Seth Meyers announced Rob and Kristen's reunion to which he said, "friends say [Kristen's] absolutely slouching with joy." (Tune in for the joke at the 11:40 mark.) Seth's joke was a reference to Kristen's usual sullen demeanor. What do You think, HollywoodLifers? Was the joke funny or harsh? Watch and vote below! Saad had the pleasure of working with Rob on 'Cosmopolis,' and for him it was nothing but an enjoyable experience! Read on for all the details. We already know that Robert Pattinson is a gentleman -- refusing to speak about Kristen Stewart, during various interviews, after her cheating scandal! And now, Cosmopolis co-star Saad Siddiqui reiterates that sentiment by revealing how much of a pleasure it was working with the Twilight hunk! Of working with Rob, Saad tells the Tribune that Rob is a "very talented actor and a very kind and caring human being.” It's a shame that Kristen would cheat on someone who is so "kind" and "caring." On a positive note, Kristen may have cheated, but she's claiming to be a changed woman! Kristen tells Madame Figaro magazine that she has "good values" claiming, "today I am different." We’ve learned two more casting details for Ruba Nadda‘s Inescapable, as THR reports Saad Siddiqui and Oded Fehr have joined Maria Tomei, Joshua Jackson and Alexander Siddig for the romance drama.
Siddig is set to portray a “Syrian expatriate whose journalist daughter goes missing in Damascus.” He enlists his former love (Tomei) as well as an embassy official (Jackson), who may end up having his own agenda. Nadda recently directed the 2009 film Cairo Time, which also starred Siddig. Daniel Iron and Lance Samuels are set to produce the thriller, with Luc Montpellier leading as cinematographer.
Aside from having some small roles in various TV shows over the past few years, Siddiqui hasn’t really had much exposure for bigger projects, which means that this could be a decent break for him if he ends up playing a relatively big character. And you may remember Fehr as the vindictive...
