Comedian and actor Aisling Bea headlines the dark comedy drama film And Mrs, out in September. Here’s a trailer:

Since beginning her career as a stand-up comedian, Aisling Bea has made her mark on screens big and small. She put in a memorable performance as a contestant on series five of Taskmaster, and since 2021 she has written and starred in her own superb sitcom This Way Up, which is available to stream on Channel 4. She also found success in America, starring opposite Paul Rudd in sci-fi comedy drama Living With Yourself.

Bea is next set to headline the comedy drama film And Mrs, about a woman whose husband-to-be dies just before their wedding day. The synopsis, if you’d prefer a more official description, reads as follows:

A hilarious and heartfelt comedy drama about Gemma, a woman living in London whose American fiancé, Nathan, dies shortly before their wedding day.

Fox Entertainment’s MarVista Entertainment is entering into a development and production deal with TelevisaUnivision to produce 10 original Spanish-language films for ViX Plus, both sides announced Monday. ViX Plus is TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language subscription-based video on-demand offering; MarVista will produce 10 films across the genres of family, comedy, romance and holiday that will be available to stream exclusively on the service. TelevisaUnivision will hold the worldwide streaming distribution rights for all ten films, while MarVista is set to oversee the global distribution outside of streaming.

HBO has set an April premiere date for horror comedy series The Baby, a co-production with Sky. The eight-episode series will debut Sunday, April 24 at 10:30 Pm on HBO and will stream on HBO Max.

Chicago – “Lion” is the kind of inspirational-triumph-over-insurmountable-odds and adversity stories that’s bound to appeal to grandmothers and Academy voters, and it does offer plenty of material to tug at the heartstrings. But it’s a movie that only gets the job half done, and unfortunately loses its way once Nicole Kidman comes into the picture.

The film is based on the true story of a young boy in India named Saroo (played as a boy by Sunny Pawar). We meet him on the streets with his brother scrounging scraps and stealing coal to buy enough food to support their family. Their mother works as a laborer moving rocks, but can’t read or write – she gives her children love, but can’t give much more. Desperate to find any work to feed their family, Saroo tags along when his older brother tries to find some night labor.

– The 2017 Oxford Film Festival has announced the full schedule of films for next year’s edition of the popular Mississippi film festival. Katherine Dieckmann’s drama “Strange Weather,” starring Holly Hunter, is the Opening Night Selection while Jeff Grace’s festival hit, “Folk Hero & Funny Guy,” serves as the Closing Night selection.

A total of 151 films (34 features, 117 shorts, music videos, new media, and virtual reality projects), including 15 world premieres and 4 U.S. premieres, were selected for the film festival taking place February 15-19, 2017, in Oxford, Mississippi. Along with the films in competition, the festival will be highlighted by three new sections: New Media, a virtual reality (Vr) slate of programming, and both features and shorts sections featuring Lgbtq films.

Rooney Mara is the latest star to join the international cast of true-life story Lion.

Chappie actor Dev Patel leads the drama as Saroo, who was forced to travel the globe as a child after becoming separated from his family.

Having been taken in by Australian parents, Saroo resolves to seek out his birth family once he reaches the age of 25.

The film is based on the real-life story detailed in Saroo Brierley's acclaimed book A Long Way Home.

Joining Patel and Nicole Kidman in Lion will be Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara as production moves from India to Australia, reports Deadline.

Other new cast additions include Detectorists star Divian Ladwa and Top of the Lake actor David Wenham.

Lion is scheduled for release later in the year.

Rooney Mara and David Wenham are set to join Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel in Saroo Brierley's biopic "Lion" for The Weinstein Company.

The story chronicles the life of Brierley (Patel), who at age five was separated from his mother in India only to find her 25 years later. Kidman plays his adoptive mother Sue, who moved the boy to Hobart, Australia.

Luke Davies ("Candy") adapted the true story tale which Garth Davis ("Top of the Lake") directs. Filming is underway in India before shortly moving to Melbourne and Hobart in Australia later this month.

Stars of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and 300 join Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel in Saroo Brierley biopic, which The Weinstein Company acquired at Cannes 2014.

Rooney Mara, David Wenham and Divian Ladwa have joined Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel in the cast of Lion, a film about Saroo Brierley, who was seperated from his mother in India aged five and found her after 25 years apart.

Also cast in the film are several of India’s best-known actors including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Priyanka Bose, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Deepti Naval.

After several weeks on location in India, Lion begins filming in Australia - in Melbourne and Hobart - in mid-April.

The Weinstein Company acquired Lion at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, where they closed the deal for worldwide distribution excluding Australia and New Zealand, where Transmission Films will distribute.
