Dave returned home in the new millennium and produced a solo album which set in motion a string of 20+ Dove Award nominations (the Christian Music Grammys) and established Dave as a respected industry professional. In 2005 and 2006, he won multiple Dove Awards for his music and productions. Then in 2007, the Gospel Music Association put him at the top of that year's most nominated list with eight Dove nominations, including recognition for his publishing company in the coveted Song of the Year category.
Later that year, Dave turned some of his attention to filmmaking, first as a composer for the film, Stuck in the Past (2007). Then in the summer of 2007, Dave and his son Josh Moody produced their first feature film, Praise Band: The Movie (2008), which won numerous awards and launched the Moody family's faith-driven, family focused production company Elevating Entertainment Motion Pictures.

Moving Pictures Film and Television, part of ICAP Media Group, secured the international rights to distribute the film worldwide. Bridgestone Multimedia Group distributes the film in the US and Canada. The story was updated with additional filming and re-released under the title Shakespeare School Year (2018) starring Celeste Kellogg.
Dave then produced and directed Rusty Whitener's award winning novel and screenplay Season of Miracles (2013), which starred John Schneider, Grayson Russell and Nancy Stafford. The film was released in 2013 by Vivendi Entertainment.
The Moodys produced Silver Twins (2017) written by Larry Silver in Nashville in 2015. Elevating Entertainment inked a deal with Pure Flix in 2017 to distribute the film, as well as other titles in the company's catalog.
In the summer of 2017, Dave and his family launched a second brand Downbeat Films and produced a new suspense thriller All Light Will End with co-production partners Red Vessel Entertainment, Music City Films and Ghost Horse.
