He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) and elected as a Fellow for the Royal Society of Science before being awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Science and Public Engagement in STEM. He is a Professor of Physics and Professor of Public Engagement in Science, University of Surrey in England and is based in Southsea, Hampshire, England.
