Don Schmeichel(I)

Don grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, although at a young age, his family returned to their paternal roots in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, Canada for a few years (Don is often overheard telling stories of how he passed his days on the farm by riding horses, snowmobiles and dirt-bikes at the ripe old age of 5).

Like most Canadian kids, Don's boyhood love was ice-hockey. He had an accomplished career as a hockey player, having played AAA hockey as a boy and then graduated to the Junior ranks in Canada as a teenager. From there, Don went on to play in the professional ice-hockey leagues in Europe (The Netherlands and Britain) before he ended his injury-plagued playing career.

These days, Don's focus is on his production companies: Nervous World Films (Canada & Europe) and Chronic Mind Film Company (USA). His companies are developing and producing a number of commercially viable film properties for international distribution and domestic distribution.

Don has lived in 4 countries and has worked and traveled through many countries around the world. He is truly a global citizen and brings an international perspective to the film business. His business and personal life experience is unique and well rounded. At the same time, he's still grounded by the lessons he learned from his parents and grandparents on the farm in western Canada. He brings the high level of passion, intensity and competitive drive that he learned from his hockey career to all of his professional endeavors.
