David Elliot was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor in Film, beating Robert Carlyle and David Tennant to the prize. David started his acting career on stage, going on to tour all over the UK with multi-award-winning shows such as 'Decky Does a Bronco' and 'Hangover' - the latter he also wrote and directed to rave reviews. His breakthrough leading role on screen was in the war flick 'Kajaki' (Kilo Two Bravo) which led to him winning a BAFTA for his portrayal as real life war hero Cpl Mark Wright. Other leading roles include Jackie van Beek's New Zealand based relationship drama 'The Inland Road' which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. On the small screen, Elliot was cast regular on Sky's smash hit action drama 'Bulletproof' for two seasons before joining the Netflix mini series 'The Liberator', playing World War 2 American Army Commander Major General Robert Frederick. Elliot then went onto join Dougray Scott and Joanna Vanderham as a lead cast member of Irvine Welsh's 'Crime' for ITV, playing the stand out role of psychotic detective DI Tommy Stark, followed by the mysterious new character Sutherland, in BBC's 'Vigil'.
