- Sound Department
- Composer
Growing up North of New York City in the 1960's, Bill Kates immersed
himself in acting, sound and music at an early age, taking on tape recording as
a hobby before he was five, and studying classical and jazz music-
piano, trombone, harmonica, sousaphone, and singing- shortly after entering
kindergarten. His first professional recording was at age 6 with
electronic music pioneer Bruce Haack. An early interest in acting and
art led to his lifelong study of film and animation, which he continued
during his 30+ years in radio broadcasting, producing for major market
radio at WBCN, Boston, K-Rock in New York City, and XM Radio (later
Sirius/XM) in New York City, where he specialized in unique, musical
and comedic radio production.
Bill now resides in Hollywood, where he creates sound design for film, television, games and apps, creates and performs comedy, studies acting, and creates original music. Bill is represented theatrically, for voiceover, and commercially by Aperture Talent Agency.
