Aped Santos is a Filipino production designer and art director based in Quezon City, Philippines. He is known for Baler (2008), Bambanti (2015), Batad: Sa Paang Palay (2006), Donor (2010) and Liway (2018).
He grew up in Cubao, Quezon City and studied interior design, applied arts and architecture at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
Aped started as an apprentice art director in 1983 for I Love You, I Hate You by Regal Films, and then debuted as art director in the movies Sana Bukas Pa ang Kahapon, Mahawi Man Ang Ulap, and Working Girls 1 for Viva Films, and eventually graduating into a full-fledged production designer film credit by 1984 in the ECP-produced (Experimental Cinema of the Philippines) Silip. He was also a popular production designer for Philippine TVCs of the late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.
In 2006, Aped started doing design work for indie movies beginning with Cinemalaya 2006's Batad, sa Paang Palay. Other production designer credits are for the multi-award winning Baler 2008, Donor 2010, Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa (Dance of the Two Left Feet) 2011, Sta. Nina 2012, ABNKKBSNPLAko! 2013, Philippino Story 2013, Mariquina 2014, Bambanti (Scarecrow) 2015, Paglipay (Crossings) 2016, Bar Boys 2016, Patay Na Si Hesus (Jesus is Dead) 2016, Nay 2017, Bagahe (Baggage) 2017, and Cinemalaya's all-time top-grosser Liway 2018.
He serves as the vice-president of the Production Designers Guild of the Philippines (PDGP), under the umbrella of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), and is registered with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
