Scott Adkins has carved himself an impressive niche as a go-to action star, landing roles in franchises such as John Wick, The Expendables, and Universal Soldier. Now, one of his most non-stop brutal movies of the last few years has found its way to the top of the Hulu Top 10. Take Cover was one of several Adkins-led movies released in 2024, and it was also one of his best reviewed of the year.
Directed by Nick McKinless, the British action movie features Alice Eve, Jack Parr, and Madalina Bellariu Ion alongside Adkins. The synopsis of the film reads:
“Scott Adkins has got no cover, no back-up, and no way out in this claustrophobic action thriller. Sam Lorde has spent a lifetime killing people. After a hit gone wrong, he finds himself disillusioned and lacking purpose, deciding to retire as a hitman. His final job however, results in him being a target himself.

Take Cover is yet another take on one of, if not the most used plots in film, ready for retirement the protagonist, be they a spy, thief or killer for hire, agrees to one last job only to have it all go sideways. In this case, it’s Sam Lorde who we first see on a roof along with his spotter Ken talking about God as they wait for their target to arrive.
Their target does arrive, and they get their kill, but Sam also kills a woman who seemingly throws herself in front of him trying to save him. He retreats to his cabin in the woods to deal with this, and when their boss Tamara contacts him with his next assignment he tells her it will be his last.

The best kept secret in action movies, Scott Adkins does what he does best in the newly released trailer for the upcoming action thriller Take Cover. Starring Adkins as a disillusioned hitman, the actor himself took to social media to share that early reactions to Take Cover have declared the movie, Pulse-pounding action that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and Explosive carnage reminiscent of a classic John Woo film. All of which should have action fans excited to see what Adkins has in store.

Joshua James Shaw, a film designer who worked on Bryan Singer's critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past, has released a ton of the concept art he did for the film. The art he released features some pretty cool alternate costume designs for Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, future Professor X, both future & past Magnetos, and a Trask soldier. However, his biggest reveal were designs for Kelsey Grammer's future Beast! Does this mean that an earlier version of the script had a bigger role for the character? Seems very likely, however a possible date conflict with Grammer's schedule may have had something to do with his absence. Fortunately for fans, Grammer was able to reprise his fan-favorite role as Beast in a brief cameo in one of the film's final scenes. Check out some of Shaw's work below and be sure to head over Here to check out more! Click...

The American Dream, the sublime, betrayal, and father figures are all key to this week's Sons Of Anarchy...

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Samcro is on its way to hopefully rebuilding its clubhouse, its image and its identity. One of the core themes of Sons of Anarchy has always been about the importance of being initiated into a group. This initiation is supposed to give one's life some sort of meaning and purpose. Ideally, membership in Samcro is special because with it comes the expectation that you have earned your place at the table, amongst your family, and in the world. This is the great hope of Samcro, and not only is it the ideal that Jax is always trying to get the club to live up to, it is also the ideal that despite everything,...

Have you recovered from last week’s emotional season premiere? FX sent the first two episodes to TV critics together, which was fitting because in episode 2, “Authority Vested,” smoke was still coming off poor Dawn’s body when Jax, Bobby, and Chibs (“Tiggy!”) arrived on the scene. But also because together, they show you what this series is capable of: Brutality that landed a spot on our list of TV’s most disturbing scenes ever and moments of love and loyalty that bring a tear to the eye. Spoiler Alert if you haven’t seen tonight’s episode!

As 2011 comes to a close, EW.com wanted to honor some of the hardworking names and faces from behind the scenes for their outstanding achievements. We asked Sons of Anarchy music supervisor Bob Thiele Jr. to name five tunes from season 4 that represent the show’s best use of music — which in our minds, is also some of TV’s finest. 'Sons of Anarchy' season premiere: The art of the montage. Who does them right? Who does them wrong?
Montages have a bad name. We know this because Trey Parker and Matt Stone have spoofed them both on South Park and in the movie Team America: World Police. (With the same song!) But occasionally, they’re so beautifully constructed that they’re unforgettable. Think the Up married life montage, which got much of the audience to tear up in under four minutes, or, on the complete opposite end of the emotional spectrum, the final five moments of last night’s Sons of Anarchy season 4 premiere. It was a brutal ballet of violence set to a cover of “What a...

In a period where the studio-based portion independent film industry are on suicide watch, it'll be fun to relive a time when Harvey Weinstein and everyone competing against him could do no wrong. Ever since we got word that there was a screenplay based on Peter Biskind's incendiary book was making the rounds (Jeffrey Wells) and there was activity on the production that a crew were in Cannes filming, but now we got word that Down and Dirty Pictures (a 10 million dollar production) has got a great cast in place (Hugh Dancy, Matthew Perry, Andy Serkis, Sally Hawkins, Elias Koteas, Bobby Cannavale, Toby Jones and Michael Rispoli) with Scren Daily reporting that Vincent D'Onofrio is poised to take on the "role" of Weinstein. - (Thanks to a reader below for pointing out that apparently some of the info below might turn out to be false - Screen Daily have pulled their article,...

Screen Daily reports that Vincent D’Onofrio has been perfectly cast to play Harvey Weinstein in the upcoming adaptation of Peter Biskind’s Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance, and the Rise of Independent Film. As you can guess by the title, Biskind’s book chronicles the rise in popularity of independent films in the 90’s and how Miramax (which Harvey and his brother Bob Weinstein ran) played a huge role in everything. Kenneth Bowser, who previously directed the documentary adaptation of Peter Biskind’s Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘N’ Roll Generation Saved Hollywood, will be directing the film based off of a script by Dean Craig (Death at a Funeral) and Joshua James (Alien Uprising). The always “trusty” IMDb also lists some interesting names like Matthew Perry, Andy Serkis, and Sally Hawkins as part of the cast.

As Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar prepare for baby No. 19, they have a big hurdle ahead of them: coming up with another name that starts with the letter J. Let's face it, they're probably running out of good ones! So Jim Bob told People that the family would welcome a little assistance: "We'd love to hear from the readers at People.com to come up with a special name for this child." While there are many J names still available, many of them might not be the right fit for the newest Duggar. And, we can't have any repeats so...

- There will be many international camera crews assaulting Cannes in a couple of weeks from now, but I have the impression that one crew in particular will be in filmmaking mode. When Peter Biskind's incendiary read (Down and Dirty Pictures) was first announced as a feature length film with scribes Joshua James and Dean Craig on board to write the screenplay, and later show up in excerpt form at Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeffrey Wells blog, I thought for sure this would mean that one day I would see some actor end up playing the likes of Harvey Weinstein or Robert Redford. It appears that filming will take place in some form on the Croisette - but the question is: in what form? When Kenneth Bowser and Biskind last worked together they came up with a simple docu template for the screen adaptation of Easy Riders, Raging Bulls, but I'm
