Last Week: 1st
2. Kyle Larson

Denny Hamlin
Controversy ensued when Hamlin got the jump on the field after the final restart but NASCAR deemed no penalty and the Joe Gibbs racing driver was able to maintain the top spot to score his second victory of the season. Hamlin’s No. 11 pit crew also deserves much of the praise for getting him off pit road with a blistering last stop helping to cement the win.
Last Week: 4th
William Byron
One week after dominating at Cota, Byron came to Richmond which he considered not one of his best tracks. But a seventh-place finish might say otherwise as the Hendrick Motorsports driver turned in a more than decent performance.

For the fourth season in a row, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 race at Daytona International Speedway will determine which 16 drivers will make the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, and NBC NASCAR commentator Steve Letarte couldn’t be happier. “Everyone who takes the green flag could win that race,” he says, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the high-banked oval. Some drivers who may still be on the bubble — Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell, and Chase Elliott — are particularly skilled at Daytona, but “what has happened the last few years that people aren’t noticing is the depth of the field,” Letarte says. “That makes things very dangerous.” (Credit: Meg Oliphant/Getty Images) Beyond the bubble, Letarte is looking ahead to the slate of drivers who seem more poised to hoist the trophy in Phoenix on November 5. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson, both of whom have playoff experience, will be threats; Kevin Harvick could...

“Undisputed” co-hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless have certainly had their public clashes, one of which may have even led to the former NFL tight end’s departure – but when it came time for goodbyes on Tuesday, there was nothing but love between the two.
“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, bro,” Sharpe began, addressing his co-host across the table at the Fox Sports 1 studio where the two have locked horns since Sharpe joined the show in 2016. “I’m here because of you. You allowed me to share the stage with you, you allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car but I’m not going to cry now.”
Sharpe was wrong about that, as he began to tear up and dab his eyes with a tissue in the next moment:

The road to Atlanta stretches before Bubba Wallace and his wife, Amanda, as they drive their hulking Rv into the Georgia sky. The crinkle of a McDonald’s bag echoes through the speaker during our phone interview as Wallace continues on his sixth full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series. The expectations for this run are stacked, and having Michael Jordan as your boss doesn’t help, either.

Bubba Wallace, who drives the number 23 Toyota Camry for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s racing team, won the rain-shortened YellaWood 500 NASCAR race at Talladega today. In doing so, Wallace became only the second Black driver to win a NASCAR Cup race, the first being Hall-of-Famer Wendell Scott in 1963.
When asked about his win in that context Wallace told NBC, “I never think about those things.” The driver then became visibly emotional and responded, “When you say it like that, it obviously beings a lot of joy, a lot of emotion.”
