Native New Yorker Maia Lorian is an actress and creator with a background in comedy and improv. Career highlights include: SNL (NBC), Flight of the Conchords (HBO), The Onion News Network (IFC), a plethora of CollegeHumor videos that have gone viral, a series of films by cult film maker Mike Kuchar (Kuchar Brothers), and worked as a performance facilitator for Marina Abramovic's piece Generator. In theater- Carmina Burana (Lincoln Center), Murder In the Cathedral (Hoi Polloi/Off Broadway), A Pale Horse Death and Hell (Leah Winkler/Ontological-Hysteric Theater), Flying Snakes in 3D (Leah Winkler/Ars Nova). Lorian studied with Anne Bogart's SITI Co. and the Experimental Theatre Wing at Tisch/NYU. She's the artistic director of A Presidential Parody-a guerrilla art ad takeover with live street art performances and interventions around NYC. As an artist, her work has been featured in Hyperallergic, The Nation, Street Art NYC, and many others outlets. Lorian's pieces are in the permanent collection of Poster House Museum in NYC and The 45 Library. Her work as an actor has influenced her practice as an artist, she's helped create many original works of theater. Lorian also does stand-up, sings, composes music and lyrics, and is always learning new skills, like Russian and ukulele.
