The Young and the Restless tallied 23 nominations as honors were announced this morning for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Restless’ impressive take helped CBS lead all networks with 50 overall nominations. PBS and ABC followed, with 44 and 38 nods, respectively.
General Hospital, which earned 19 nominations, joined Restless in the race for Outstanding Drama Series, and Sesame Street received 17 nods, including three for Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo who faces allegations of sexual misconduct.
Good Morning America and Today will bring their ratings rivalry to the Emmys, where they’ll be joined by CBS Sunday Morning in the Outstanding Morning Program category.

The iconic TV actress appeared on The Today Show on March 11 to talk about her tragic illness, and she told host Savannah Guthrie that she “doesn’t want to go” but she is ready to say “bye bye” to her family. Valerie looked stunning when she appeared on The Today Show, and she certainly did not look like someone who has been given three months to live.

This [sex] is just as important or maybe more!. The Doctors co-host and Ob-gyn Dr. Lisa Masterson agrees...

More than 60 Black celebrities – including Samuel L. Jackson, Laila Ali, Tatyana Ali, Anthony Anderson, Bill Duke, Dennis Haysbert, Nia Long, Chris Massey, Kyle Massey, Lisa Masterson and Shaun Robinson – have united with Greater Than AIDS to bring attention to the severe and disproportionate epidemic facing Black Americans and reduce the stigma surrounding the disease.
Black Americans account for half of the approximately 1.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in this country today — and 44 percent of new infections — while representing just 12 percent of the population. Blacks are also more likely to die of AIDS as compared to other racial and ethnic groups.
Coinciding with National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (Feb. 7), Greater Than AIDS is debuting new public service ads (PSAs), available here, coordinated social media posts and other messages from popular Black television and film actors, directors, producers, and others in Hollywood about the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS in the Black community.

There are times when I have to sit back and look on the self-cannibalizing nature of television with a kind of sick admiration. My favorite example has always been "Trading Spouses" which went from a skit on "Chappelle's Show" mocking the "Trading Spaces" model by substituting people trading their actual marriages to an actual reality series where people... traded families. Last year there was a fictional series on Lifetime called "Huge" which was set in a weight-loss camp for teenagers. The kids on the show watched a TV series called "Love Handles" which was about overweight contestants battling to find love. "Huge" was cancelled after its first season. Tonight, we see the premiere of "Love Handles" on Lifetime which is a show where a couple go through "a dual transformation as overweight couples attempt to save their lives and relationships as they confront what lies at the core of their issues.

The run up to "Black Friday" has started, which this year includes a lot of advertising of "Black Friday Prices Now!" stuff and I just... bleh. This is the part of American Christmas that makes me want to give all the money I'd put towards presents to Heifer International and Donors Choose and give my loved ones a card that says "For Christmas this year I bought someone a cow and gave a fourth grade class a set of textbooks. Happy freaking Holidays." I understand that people want to save money and there are some good deals available but if I'm standing outside a store in freezing cold weather at some ridiculous goddamn hour of the morning, I'd better be getting a TV for free when I walk in. But I say that as someone who hates cold and mornings. And crowds. And useless shiny crap. This really isn't my season.

Woke up today with the sniffles and I'm not sure what that's about and it's about the last thing I need at this time of year. I've got the tea going and I'm really hoping I don't have to resort to anything more intense because cold medicine has a nasty habit of knocking me right on my ass or just making me kind of loopy and useless for the rest of the day. So while I enjoy my tea and cross my fingers that things don't progress from this point to an actual cold, here's your Wednesday night TV:

There will be no shortage of medical discussion in daytime for the next couple years. B&C is reporting that CBS Television Distribution has renewed The Doctors for seasons three and four, taking it through the 2011-12 season.
The Doctors is hosted by Dr. Travis Stork, an emergency-room physician and a former contestant on The Bachelor. The daytime program uses a panel format, with Stork consulting regularly with three other doctors -- Ob/Gyn Dr. Lisa Masterson, plastic surgeon and Ent specialist Dr. Andrew Ordon, and pediatrician Dr. James Sears. Guests are often featured, including Dr. Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil) who's also an executive producer.
The two-year series renewal has been reportedly cleared in 91% of the country, including 48 of the top 50 markets.
Joe Disalvo, Ctd's president of sales, said "The Doctors is a show that's been working across...
