The Rookie started Season 7 down one regular cop, so what happened to him? Was the exit on or off screen?
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 premiere
For those who forgot, Season 6 of The Rookie ended with the cops exposing how corrupt lawyer Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan) had used shrink Dr. Blair London (Danielle Campbell) to get information on cops she could sell to criminals. That exposed scores of detectives to blackmail that hampered investigations.
Nolan worked with the FBI to track Monica down with a big firefight that had him shot in the hindquarters while Monica escaped. However, in the middle of the chaos, recurring criminal “frenemy” Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) escaped prison alongside Jason (Steve Kazee), the abusive drug-dealing ex-husband of Nolan’s wife, Bailey.
As Season 7 opened, the crew tried to track Jason and Oscar, but a drug house bust couldn’t turn them up.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 premiere “The Shot.”] The Rookie Season 7 may have welcomed two new officers to the precinct — Seth (Patrick Keleher) and Miles (Deric Augustine) — but it also had to write out one: Aaron Thorsen, after it was announced in August 2024 that Tru Valentino wouldn’t be returning. The Season 7 premiere does that relatively quickly, with Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Celina (Lisseth Chavez) talking about how Aaron is now in North Hollywood, happy where no one knows he was a patient of Blair’s (Danielle Campbell) after the therapist turned out to be dirty at the end of Season 6. After news broke of Valentino’s exit, the actor opened up about leaving in an Instagram story. “I will always cherish my time on The Rookie but couldn’t be more excited for what the future has in store,” he wrote. “I adore the friends and relationships made while being there.

“The Rookie” is back after a six-month hiatus, but fans who are excited to return to the Mid-Wilshire Division might be surprised and saddened to see a familiar face is missing. Tru Valentino’s Officer Aaron Thorsen, who joined the series in a recurring role in Season 4 and became a series regular in Seasons 5 and 6, left the show between seasons in August 2024. That means that though there was no fanfare to his exit, the Season 6 finale was his final episode.
At least for now. The Season 7 premiere gives a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it update on the character’s whereabouts, and it very much leaves the door open for Officer Thorsen to return in the future. During a quieter moment in the action-packed episode, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) asks Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) how Aaron’s doing and she reveals that he’s “over in North Hollywood,...

Welcome back to the Mid-Wilshire Division and get ready for more sprawling shootouts in the streets of Los Angeles, “The Rookie” is back for Season 7. The action-packed, strike-shortened Season 6 brought a big Chenford breakup that broke fans’ hearts; a shady psychiatrist, Blair London (Danielle Campbell), who even got Tim to open up to her before her; and a devious turn for Monica (Bridget Regan), who emerged as the season’s big bad before escaping in the finale — but not before she and Blair got Mid-Wilshire tangled up in a corruption scandal that cost the lives of officers. Oh, and not only did recurring bad guy and fan-favorite Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) break out of prison, he brought Bailey’s criminal ex-husband Jason Wyler with him.
Naturally, Season 7 picks up in the thick of the action with the team hunting down Oscar and Jason.

What happened to Aaron Thorsen on The Rookie? That’s what The Rookie fans are asking as Season 7 premieres without him.
Aaron (Tru Valentino) debuted in Season 4 of The Rookie as the new rookie at Mid-Wilshire.
The character was added after the death of rookie Jackson West (Titus Makin Jr.) – and it hit the Mid-Wilshire team hard.
Three seasons later, Aaron has exited the team in a very lackluster manner compared to Jackson.
It’s not uncommon for shows like The Rookie to suffer cast changes after several seasons.
Sometimes, the change happens at the actor or actress’ request, and other times, it’s simply for creative reasons.
Let’s look at which one it was for the character of Aaron Thorsen.
Why did Aaron Thorsen leave The Rookie?
When Season 7 of The Rookie premieres, Aaron will have moved on to a different station amid the fallout from the Blair London (Danielle Campbell) drama.

The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley has previewed Tim Bradford's (Eric Winter) season 7 story arc, including hints about new Chenford developments going forward. During The Rookie season 6 finale, Tim and Lucy (Melissa O'Neil) still hadn't rekindled their relationship, having previously broken up with one another in season 6, episode 6. He was also fired from his job on the LAPD's Metro Unit last season, having returned to the core Mid-Wiltshire division in the process. He also decides to see detained psychiatrist Dr. Blair London (Danielle Campbell) about his issues, setting the stage for his forthcoming storyline.
Speaking with TVLine, Hawley teased that Tim will be spending time in The Rookie season 7 trying to better himself mentally, such as going to a veteran's support group. Well, the good news is that this isn’t coming after a finale that left his character’s life hanging in the balance. But the bad news is Tru Valentino will not be part of The Rookie Season 7 cast. Valentino is not returning when the ABC drama comes back in the midseason, TV Insider has confirmed (the news was first reported by TVLine). This comes after Valentino was a series regular, playing Officer Aaron Thorsen, for two seasons; he recurred his first season, the show’s fourth (its second episode was his debut). Thorsen started out as the rookie cop who was well-known at the time for being acquitted of murder. In Season 6, he started going to therapy and seeing Dr. Blair London (Danielle Campbell), after he was shot on the job in the previous finale. Blair turned out to be dirty and tied up in the season-ending case. That...

Note: The following story contains spoilers for “The Rookie” Season 6 finale, “Escape Plan.”
“The Rookie‘s” strike-shortened Season 6 came to a close Tuesday night with the action-packed tenth episode, “Escape Plan.” Plus, it might have nudged the door open for a step forward in the fan-favorite relationship between Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter).
Though the duo didn’t re-spark their romance in the finale, which focused on the takedown of Monica (Bridget Regan) and Dr. Blair London (Danielle Campbell), there were still some major moments for #Chenford, as the fandom has lovingly dubbed the pair. Those moments included a heroic sequence for Lucy in the heat of action, as well as a quieter, more emotional elevator scene later in the episode, which series creator Alexi Hawley called “the most important step for the future.”
Before he looked toward what’s next, Hawley contended with the past.

Celina, who saved your life when you were shot? That Celina?” she checks. “Did I mention the light?” he stresses. “Because I really believe the mood lighting was 20 percent responsible.” When it comes to her reaction, he describes it as “not good. The look she gave me was somewhere between horrified and really horrified.

Jodie Foster is widely revered as one of Hollywood’s most fearless performers, but it sounds like she’d feel safer locked in a room with Hannibal Lecter than she would sitting beside the ladies of The View.

Share? is a human story disguised as a science fiction film, showcasing the mundanity of everyday life in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. The film explores the concept of being trapped, whether it's in a physical room or during a Covid-19 lockdown, and raises questions about complacency and the power of distractions. Share? is a claustrophobic indie film with powerful performances, particularly from Bradley Whitford and Melvin Gregg, and offers insight into how we gravitate towards creature comforts even in dire situations.
For a movie so rooted in science fiction, Share? is as human of a story as you will see. Writer-director Ira Rosensweig (Mr. Student Body President) and co-writer Benjamin Sutor (Where’s The Money) have crafted a simple story with minimal production value. The end result is an entertaining yet meditative take on the mundanity of everyday life. Anchored by lead performances from Melvin Gregg (American Vandal) and Bradley...

"I'm a dude in a room talking to a dude in a room." XYZ Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Share?, from filmmaker Ira Rosensweig. The indie film is another social experiment game / live stream thriller, playing on the mechanics of social media to create something unsettling. A man awakens alone, stripped of all possessions, trapped in a bare room. Aided solely by a primitive computer, he fights to survive in a new existence where entertainment is the only currency and discover who imprisoned him, why, and if there is any possibility of escape. Melvin Gregg stars as the lead – he's not alone in this streaming prison: Bradley Whitford, Alice Braga, & Danielle Campbell are also stuck in the system, too. They don’t know how to escape or when this game will end. All they can do is keep each other company while entertaining...

Sixty-four years late and right on time, Alice Childress’ wise and stirring backstage comedy-drama Trouble in Mind is making its long-in-coming Broadway debut tonight, and to describe the play as prescient would be an understatement. Uncanny rings truer.
With a star turn by Lachanze that takes a strong place in a theatrical season already formidable in its roster of performances, Trouble in Mind takes a behind-the-curtain look at the racism, coded prejudice, self-flattery, sexism and built-in bigotry that Broadway has always professed to eschew.
Childress, who died in 1994, knew better, and her insights fuel Trouble in Mind. First staged to acclaim Off Broadway in 1955, the play, about a Black actress in a big Broadway play who must choose between truth and security, was optioned by producers to open on Broadway in 1957 – if only Childress would write a more upbeat and forgiving ending. She chose truth.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, production on most network TV shows has had to be shut down. CBS All Access is closing the book on Tell Me a Story.
The Paul Wesley and Danielle Campbell-led anthology series has been canceled after two seasons.
The news is somewhat surprising given that it generated a decent amount of buzz for a show on one of the less popular streaming services.
While CBS All Access will not be ordering a third season, the first two seasons are headed to The CW in a deal that will bring more eyes to the series.
But it may be too late, given that the streamer has canceled it.
The beauty of anthology series is that they have a beginning, middle, and end every season, so fans will not be left in the lurch with several questions unanswered.
Tell Me a Story Season 1 will either be used to bolster the network's summer or fall slate, given the increased reliance on acquisitions.

With many broadcast shows in disarray as a result of the coronavirus production shutdown, a trend is emerging of networks turning to streamers and international waters for content to fill their schedule.
Only hours after Fox announced it will air season 1 of the Spectrum series “L.A.’s Finest” this fall, the CW has gone three better by acquiring the broadcast rights to four different series, among them “Swamp Thing” from DC Universe and “Tell Me a Story” from CBS All Access.
In additional news, the Kevin Williamson-created anthology thriller has been canceled by All Access, Variety has confirmed, meaning that the show will end at two seasons, both of which will be heading to CW for a second-window run and will remain available to stream on All Access.
The other two shows that CW has picked up are “Coroner” (two seasons) and “Dead Pixels” (one season), which hail from Canada and the U.
