He graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) with a degree in Performing Arts (Acting) in 2006.

Matias was born in Sydney, Australia, but grew up in Chile from the age of seven. By the age of twenty one he returned to his place of birth where he worked as a bartender while doing amateur theatre. In 2004 he was accepted into NIDA where he studied theatre/acting for three years.
