Drummer Jay Weinberg, who was let go from Slipknot late last year, has become a member of veteran crossover-thrash band Suicidal Tendencies. He will begin playing shows with them next week.
It was previously announced that Weinberg would be drumming with the reunited Infectious Grooves, featuring Suicidal Tendencies singer Mike Muir and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Now, he’s joined Muir’s main band, which previously featured Greyson Nekrutman, Brandon Pertzborn, and the legendary Dave Lombardo among its recent drummers.
In an Instagram post captioned “You Can’t Bring Me Down” (a Suicidal Tendencies song), Weinberg wrote the following about joining Suicidal Tendencies:
“When I think of the culture and community of heavy music that I’ve loved and considered my creative home for 20 years, I think of Suicidal Tendencies: a foundational pillar and source of inspiration ever since I fell in love with punk, metal, and hardcore. Having toured...

Tony Hawk says Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are doing the score for the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ movie. The 55-year skateboarding legend spilled the tea about the Oscar winning duo putting together the soundtrack to the new adaption of the beloved childhood classic franchise - which centres on about crime fighting turtle brothers - when talking about his cover of Nine Inch Nail’s 1992 song, ‘Wish’ that featured Trent and Atticus. He said on his podcast ‘Hawk vs Wolf’ to his co-host Jason Ellis: "Him and Atticus were working on 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' […] When I went there, they were working on the soundtrack to that movie that [co-writer, producer, and Bebop voice actor] Seth [Rogen] told us about."The flick’s director Jeff Rowe confirmed the speculation on Twitter and admitted he didn’t possess “the vocabulary” to do the musical pair’s work justice. Jeff said: Well now that my...

Skate legend Tony Hawk has long been associated with alternative music via the soundtracks to his prolific video game franchise Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. For many young gamers in the ’90s and 2000s, these licensed soundtracks served as an introduction to rock, metal, and punk music that was sometimes too extreme or underground for the radio.
In his latter career, Hawk has embraced his cult rock hero status, hosting major bands at his Weekend Jam skate exhibition and recently joining Goldfinger onstage for the Pro Skater staple “Superman.” Now, Tony has teamed with an all-star backing band for a cover Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish” featuring current and former members of The Dillinger Escape Plan (Ben Weinman), The Bronx (Brad Magers), Every Time I Die (Ryan Leger), and more.

The Dillinger Escape Plan’s 2013 album One of Us Is the Killer has inspired a new graphic novel of the same name, arriving in the near future via Sumerian Comics.
Rock & Roll Hell creators Sam Romesburg and Ben Roberts were inspired by the album title to pen the original story, which was then influenced by various concepts within the LP’s songs and lyrics. Visual artist Greg Di Angilla (Rock & Roll Hell) and colorist Warnia Sahadewa (Doctor Who) are credited with the cover art and colors, respectively.
The plot synopsis reads: “A string of assassinations made by a politically-motivated killer known only to the public as The Quill serves as the spark to ignite a full scale revolution. Set in a technologically advanced American City in the not too distant future, Vertical Integration Corp. has seized all means of production and capital available, creating a financial synergy unlike any that has ever existed.

During the past year, the virtual jam — wherein a group of artists each claim their own corner of a 16:9 YouTube screen to rock out in isolation, together — has become as ubiquitous as Zoom conference calls, online schooling, and any other pandemic-era activity. Pearl Jam did it for Covid relief. The Rolling Stones did it for Global Citizen. Metallica did it very quietly. But few virtual jams have been as relentlessly creative and consistently surprising — not to mention flat-out awesome — as the ones featured in metal-themed talk show Two Minutes...

Covid-19 has put independent music venues in a state of crisis. As nightlife spaces across the U.S. shuttered in mid-March due to the pandemic, many set up their own emergency relief funds on GoFundMe and other donation sites for furloughed staff. The Brooklyn metal venue Saint Vitus went in a different direction. On April 7th, the venue launched its own Kickstarter page, utilizing a crowdfunding platform that is largely designed for startup projects and initiatives (e.g. albums, smartphone apps, board games, etc.) and not for helping struggling businesses keep the lights on.
