A new fan-made trailer has reignited interest in Tarzan once again. The video created a lot of buzz due to its visual reimagining and casting of Chris Hemsworth as the legendary jungle hero and Blake Lively as the conflicted Jane Porter.
The trailer, created by Ultimate Studio, made the classic hero a fierce protector of nature in a modern world gone wrong. But while viewers are praising the portrayal of Tarzan by Hemsworth, there’s one element they’re not buying: Blake Lively as Jane. Of course, that has everything to do with her current public image. Lively is not leaving without sparking a heated online backlash, even though it is an unofficial trailer.

Supernatural was a show that became one of the most important flagship IPs of The CW. However, the show was greenlit because another show failed to be the pop culture phenomenon that Supernatural ended up being. Eric Kripke adapted a version of Tarzan that was more flash in the pan than anything else.
Eric Kripke revealed that the entire reason he got to sail as the captain of the Supernatural ship was that he decided to sink with another show that he had not been keen on making as long as the company wanted it to last. However, seeing the writing on the wall, the show was canceled before the ordered episode quota was reached, with Kripke being approached for new ideas.

2013's Tarzanis about to make its way to a whole-new streaming home.
Per Peacock, Tarzan starring the voices of Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke, and Trevor St. John is set to become the latest addition to the platform's ever-expanding library of animated features. Tarzan will be available for streaming on Peacock beginning April 1.
Directed by Reinhard Klooss from a script co-written by Klooss, Jessica Postigo, and Yoni Brenner, Tarzan stars Lutz as the voice of the titular adventurer in a version of the classic story that comes with a decidedly sci-fi bent. The film kicks off with a journey into the jungles of Uganda, where Tarzan's parents, John and Alice Greystoke, portrayed by Mark Deklin and Jaime Ray Newman, are in search of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs and exudes its own unique form of energy. Tarzan (1999) was one of the last movies that could be considered part of Disney's powerhouse Renaissance Era of animated films. It featured award-winning songs by Phil Collins with a score by Mark Mancina. The movie was a retelling of the story Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, published in 1912. Frozen director Chris Buck made his directorial debut, and the movie presented a new take on Tarzan as a jungle-surfing vine swinger with a father-son conflict at its center. Rosie O'Donnell starred in the voice cast along with Tony Goldwyn, Glenn Close, Brian Blessed, Wayne Knight, and Minnie Driver.
Driver starred as Disney's latest heroine and almost-princess, Jane Porter. Although not of royal blood in the Tarzan story, Disney did once consider adding Jane to its merchandising line of princesses. Not every "princess" is actual royalty -- for example, Mulan is a warrior more than she is a princess.

Disney's peak was from 1989 to 1999, with films like Tarzan. Despite age, Tarzan remains notable for its handling of complex themes. Tarzan highlights the importance of peace, balance, and respect in relationships.
Disney has offered fans a wealth of enchanting films since the 1930s. However, many audiences state that the production company's peak was from 1989 to 1999, providing them with classic hits such as The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. At the very end of this period, Tarzan was released, allowing Disney to end their period of grand success on a high. Though this is a very old story, the production studio did a fantastic job of transforming this traditional tale into a film for all ages.

Disney's animated Tarzan was the final chapter of the famed "Disney Renaissance" -- a creative high point that began in the late 1980s with the release of The Little Mermaid. Like that movie, it aimed to put a new spin on a familiar story. Although there had been multiple Tarzan films and TV shows, Disney's 1999 film was first time that Edgar Rice Burroughs' character was featured in animation.
There were all the hallmarks of a Disney movie a cast of colorful animals, a far-off setting filled with adventure, an unconventional yet fairy tale-appropriate romance, and a protagonist caught between two very different worlds. It was no surprise that Tarzan blew up the box office and received critical acclaim. And as it celebrates its 25th anniversary, Tarzan still holds up today, still honoring both the character and the Disney golden age it was a part of.

Tarzan, now known as John Clayton III, returns to Africa after leaving England and reclaiming his parents' home and title. Eight years pass between Tarzan leaving Africa and returning, during which he and Jane live in England as Lord and Lady Greystoke. Tarzan's adoptive brother, Akut, becomes the new Lord of the Apes in his absence, while Tarzan reunites with his human grandfather.
The 2016 movie The Legend of Tarzan puts a unique spin on the events that followed the titular character's departure from Africa. Of course, the original Tarzan book series by author Edgar Rice Burroughs also continued past the original story, but film adaptations don't often cover these tales. Though The Legend of Tarzan adhered somewhat to how Burroughs described Tarzan's life in England (and beyond), director David Yates' version took a different route.
The original story of Tarzan sees the infant English Lord orphaned and alone in an African jungle.

Disney princess movies follow a predictable formula with a focus on finding Prince Charming and overcoming evil villains. While there have been some exceptions, Disney needs to break away from their traditional princess tropes and focus on unique and empowering journeys for their female characters. Audiences want to see strong female leads who don't rely on their male counterparts and who succeed in their own right. Disney should embrace diversity and explore new narratives that resonate with modern audiences.
People love Disney princess movies. We've loved them for a hundred years now, and the company continues to churn out new ones every few years, with the latest being Wish. Now, there's nothing wrong with fun content that is often hailed as a bellwether for the tastes of young girls. However, they seem to be getting a bit lazy with their formula.

Over the years, Disney has released many, many movies that turned into great classics. And in those movies, they featured characters of all sorts. However, it is safe to say that a large amount of Disney's popularity stems from one particular group of characters that stands out from the rest: princesses. Not only are they the company's most distinctive characters, but they are also the ones that sell the most merchandising. While each one of them has her own unique story and comes from a different background, there are many things they have in common, ranging from their love stories to the adorable animal sidekicks that always keep them company.
Fortunately, as the world has evolved, so have Disney princesses, who turned into the heroines of their own tales and no longer need to be saved by men. Characters like Merida and Moana, for instance, are an inspiration for girls and boys around the world.

Margot Robbie is an actor who has received immense critical acclaim for her roles in films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, I, Tonya, and Babylon. Additionally, she has proven she can command the screen in high-budget blockbuster movies such as The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.
While Robbie's take on Harley Quinn was instantly applauded, with many believing her character to be one of the few things that worked in 2016's Suicide Squad, the actor's portrayal of another iconic character was less memorable. The same year that Suicide Squad became one of the most hated films in recent memory, Robbie also starred as Jane Porter in The Legend of Tarzan.
A Failed Franchise...
The Legend of Tarzan, which was the first live-action Tarzan movie since 1998, managed to gross $356.7 million worldwide. This haul would be a massive success for most movies. However, the film had a production budget of $180 million.

The Walking Dead is a massively popular post-apocalyptic zombie series that famously focuses on Deputy Rick Grimes and his resilient fellow survivors. The critically-acclaimed, groundbreaking horror hit was a ratings knockout for AMC, and swiftly became one of the most buzzed about and passionately followed programs on television.

Twd was notorious for killing off fan-favorite characters and never shied away from doing so in brutal and gut-wrenching manners.
Actress Sarah Wayne Callies portrayed Rick’s wife and the mother of his children Lori for the show’s first three seasons, and while her character was never a cherished survivor, Callies nonetheless garnered praise for her compelling performance. Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan is well over 100 years old, but the iconic character seems to be due for another reinvention. THR has reported that Sony Pictures have picked up the screen rights to Tarzan from the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs and are looking to do a “total reinvention” of the character.
Sony Pictures had no comment, and no writers, filmmakers, or producers are attached to the Tarzan project, but it seems that we’ll see the character back on the big screen. The first Tarzan novel was serialized in the pulp magazine The All-Story in 1912. It proved so successful that Burroughs wrote dozens more, and Tarzan has been brought to life in movies, TV, radio, and comics for nearly as long as the character has existed. As for what this “total reinvention” might entail, it’s not hard to imagine what they’re getting at. The Tarzan stories have...

Conan. James Bond. Tarzan. Terence looks at these, and other literary characters who were changed by movie-makers on their way to the big screen...
Adapting literary heroes to the screen is a tough dilemma for filmmakers. With the possible exception of the Harry Potter phenomenon, the vast majority of a potential movie audience often has little or no familiarity with any given character's literary exploits. The end result can often be frustrating for fans of the original stories, especially when movies make too many arbitrary changes, or even do away with the spirit and intentions of the books entirely.
Conan The Barbarian, the latest rendering of Robert E Howard's pulp fantasy hero, swung its way into cinemas last week. While critics and fans are divided over its merits, most agree that it's at least more faithful and better made than such Howard adaptations as Conan The Destroyer or Kull The Conqueror.

Hollywood Accent Expert Dead
Sam Chwat, the dialect coach who helped Julia Roberts and Robert De Niro perfect tough accents for film roles, has died.
The 57 year old lost his battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on 3 March.
He ran the Sam Chwat Speech Center in New York City, which has helped thousands of people with speech impediments and accents.
As well as working with De Niro for Cape Fear and This Boy's Life, and Roberts for Mystic Pizza and Steel Magnolias, the speech therapist also coached politicians to perfect speaking patterns to lure voters.
According to the Los Angeles Times, his first Hollywood client was actress Andie MacDowell, who asked for his help after her voice was dubbed by Glenn Close in 1984 movie Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes after producers decided her South Carolina accent was too extreme for the character of Jane Porter.
