Ok, this is a tough one pal. When I started posting here years ago, my idea was to create new roles for minority characters instead of rewriting their ethnicity. This seemed to work well for Vibe, and now Raptor, but aside from them; who else has benefited? (Please answer below.) In Marvel Comics; Ms. Marvel and Miss America have all been cast as minorities now. My hope has always been that the late great Dwayne McDuffie's work would bleed into DC and Marvel, and we would see characters like Static, Icon, and Hardware become a mainstay in our society. The Inhumans have introduced many new minorities, but I feel DC is lacking in this area.

Stars like Anna Kendrick have been trying to vision-board their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a tactic that Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez is also giving a shot. While on a SXSW panel with Doctor Strange scribe Jon Spaihts, Rodriguez let slip which Marvel superhero she’s dying to play, and it’s someone who probably isn’t on Marvel studio’s horizon right now. Rodriguez, who knows her comics, says she’s a huge fan of America Chavez, the second hero to carry the Miss America mantle, and tells Geeks Of Color she’d love to play her on screen.
Created in 2011 by Joe Casey and Nick Dragota, America Chavez is a queer Latina teen and superhero from the Utopian Parallel. The McU’s already pretty sprawling, so it could be tricky to work in an alternate dimension; then again, Thor and Hulk are jetting off ...

Live TV comes with certain risks, and Sunday’s Oscars snafu – in which “La La Land,” not “Moonlight,” was mistakenly named Best Picture at first – is a reminder of that. The occasional slip of the tongue or even pranks can lead a few buzzy, unpredictable moments, which may explain why live TV is experiencing a resurgence in popularity among TV programmers.
But there are times though when major snafus take over a live broadcast, causing embarrassment or controversy. It’s in those moments when the networks probably wished there was time for a do-over or edit.

Before highly anticipated new series such as Luke Cage launch this spring, Marvel has a few other titles kicking off, namely America. Focusing on America Chavez, this title is set to have writer Gabby Rivera (Juliet Takes a Breath) and artist Joe Quinones (Howard the Duck) at the helm, so those who love the current rising crop of young heroes developed by this publisher will definitely want to take notice.
Given the progress Chavez has made serving as the current iteration of Miss America, devoted readers will probably say it’s the right time for the character to be granted a headlining gig. And seeing as how she’s been aligned with groups such as A-Force (an all-female version of the Avengers) and, more recently, the Ultimates (a nod to an alternate universe’s version of, again,...

Marvel's answer to Aquaman (though he came later) is one of the company's oldest characters, so it's well past time for The Sub-Mariner to make it to the big screen. Have him pop up in Phase Four, maybe?

While Peter Parker's notched up three different franchises in the last two decades, the successor of his Spider-Man mantle has yet to appear in live-action. Let's hope that changes soon.
Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)
Kamala Khan Aka Ms. Marvel has gained legions of fans since she was created as the company's first Muslim superhero in 2014. A light-hearted ABC TV series would be perfect for the character, though we imagine it won't be happening in the near future.

Former Miss America Suzette Charles thinks that the apology Vanessa Williams received from the pageant on Sunday’s telecast was not exactly genuine. “I don’t know what that was all about.
