The Superhero Kung Fu Extravaganza panel is on at the virtual San Diego Comic Con right now and Well Go USA wanted to share their all-new trailer for Fruit Chan’s 2019 feature “Invincible Dragon,” an exclusive debut as a part of the panel presentation.
When a brilliant but trigger-happy detective is outsmarted by a serial killer, he pays a high price for his momentary lapse in judgment. Robbed of both his fiancée and his job, he soon spirals out of control and goes back to what he knows best: fighting. Unbeknownst to him, a serendipitous reunion with an old rival (Brazilian mixed martial artist Anderson Silva) may be the key to unlocking the truth about his fiancée’s disappearance—and to apprehending the killer.
Well Go USA will debut “Invincible Dragon” in North America on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital on October 6.

"Round 3, fight!" It's Pizza Time! Order yourself a pie and enjoy this action comedy short film. Pizza Time is the latest short made by filmmaking collective Maker Table, based out of Dallas, TX - we also featured their horror short Monitor last year. This incredibly fun 80s throwback is about a legendary pizza delivery driver, who upon arriving at his destination, stumbles into the scene of a hitman's contract killing. Will he make it out alive or not? Starring Eric Jacobus and Ben Worley (who also made the music for the short). Director Ryan Polly explains: "I made the film as an homage to Jackie Chan and great action-comedy films of the 80's." I dig the fight choreography in this, and the arcade machines, good times. Watch in full below. Thanks to Ryan for the tip on this one. Original description via YouTube: "A legendary pizza delivery driver goes...

Festival favourites tend to have a reputation for not doing well at the Indian box-office, as they come with a preconceived notion of being artsy and catering to a niche audience. “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota”, however, has a lot going for it that could entice a larger, mainstream audience. For starters, its promos make it seem like a superhero or a martial arts film, unlike any Bollywood has seen thus far. Secondly, it features a fresh, young cast in film that’s infused with nostalgic retro sounds and look. Finally, it is the sophomore directorial feature from writer/director Vasan Bala, who, along with Anurag Kashyap, wrote the excellent character study that was the serial killer film “Raman Raghav 2.0”. The film had its premiere in the Midnight Madness section at the Toronto International Film Festival 2018, winning the People’s Choice Award.

Eric Jacobus likely needs no introduction to martial arts fans at this point. Though he has yet to make the cross over into the big budget action vehicles that he clearly deserves, Jacobus has been carving out a name for himself in the indie world for years now with a string of high end short films and ultra low budget features. Jacobus' work consistently delivers at the very highest levels with inventive fight choreography and a playful approach to his material that sets him apart and he delivers on all fronts again with latest effort, Blindsided. Blind man and apple pie connoisseur Walter Cooke (Eric Jacobus) ventures to his neighborhood corner store to buy milk and apples. When mafia thugs try to shake down the...

Hollywood, CA (February 20th, 2017) YouTube sensation Eric Jacobus (Rope A Dope, Tekken In Real Life) is back in the new martial arts action short "Blindsided"! Blind man and apple pie connoisseur Walter Cooke (Eric Jacobus) ventures to his neighborhood corner store to buy milk and apples. When mafia thugs try to shake down the storeowner (played by action film veteran Roger Yuan, "Jason Bourne"), Walter shows them what a blind martial artist is capable of! After producing Rope-a-Dope, producer Clayton Barber (fight coordinator on Creed and the upcoming Marvel actioner Black Panther), returns to collaborate with Jacobus, this time as director. Another action filmmaker and producer of Korean content, David William No (Matrix Reloaded, Jackie Chan’s Mr. Nice Guy) steps in to produce. Using...

It's Groundhog Day, and we've got a couple of action-packed martial arts infused short films called Rope A Dope - Groundhog Day Battle - Wake, Fight, Repeat. The films were created by Eric Jacobus, and there are two parts to the short film series that he describes as being Groundhog Day meets Jackie Chan. I do have to say that the fight choreography is incredible, fun, and inventive. If you enjoy watching martial arts movies, then you're gonna love these. ...

About two years ago we shared a must watch short film called "Rope a Dope" by Eric Jacobus (A Good Day to Die Hard) and The Stunt People. If you haven't already seen or need a refresher, you can watch it here.
Part two of the saga is just as crazy and fun as the first. While this was released a year ago, somehow we missed writing it up on GeekTyrant. Recently, we shared Jacobus recreating fighting styles of video game characters and doing over 200 different types of kicks. I hope to see more of Jacobus' action comedy stylings in a third part, which he's heavily hinted at in the comments on YouTube.

NerdApproved points us to this series of videos by professional stuntman Eric Jacobus (A Good Day to Die Hard), in which he mimics the fighting styles of video game characters from the Tekken series. I couldn't get all the way through a lot of these — at a certain point, the moves all blend together for me and it looks like he's just flopping around doing random things — but the last video, in which he shows off over 200 different moves, has a great soundtrack and is pretty mesmerizing.

It seems reductive to say that Rope A Dope 2 is the best thing to emerge from The Stunt People community to date. It's true, I think, and given that The Stunt People have been very good at what they do for a very long time that's certainly saying something. But this is more than that. A bunch more. It's one of the best martial arts comedies ever to emerge from North America on any level - whether big budget or indie - and judged on any basis. Direction, performance, choreography ... everything is simply fantastic. For those unfamiliar, the original Rope A Dope was essentially a martial arts Groundhog Day with leading man Eric Jacobus living the same sequence of events over and over until...

Early on in the pre-production phase of A Good Day to Die Hard, the team at Fox approached The Stunt People about putting together a roof top knife fight between John McClane and a baddie with a brutal knowledge of Krav Maga. Eric Jacobus, Alvin Hsing and coordinator J.J. Perry were happy to oblige, and although the scene was ultimately cut, it’s still a fantastic example of fight choreography and of the action filmmaking process. Things have gotten ridiculously out of hand since the success of first John McClane outing. It’s clear to some that the franchise itself is a meta exercise in exploring McClane’s super powers, and while throwing a car at a helicopter is crazy, so is the idea that McClane is now an expert-level fighter who can take on a martial artist like this. It’s tempting to assume that they cut it because of how much more cartoonish McClane would...

Check out this really cool fan made lightsaber battle that was shot from the point of view of Darth Vader and a Jedi. We've seen a ton of lightsaber fan movies over the years, but nothing really quite like this, and I love how it turned out! The short is called Vader Strikes, and it was shot by The Stunt People using a GoPro. It stars Eric Jacobus (Mortal Kombat Legacy) as the Jedi that Vader is fighting. Check this Star Wars awesomeness out!

I have a secret love for goofy, direct-to-video action flicks, much like the “secret” love Criminal Complex editor Jimmy Callaway has for me (thanks for the crocheted love heart, buddy – I know it was you). As a juvenile delinquent, I whittled away days going through the racks of terrible videos at the local movie shoppe, picking out anything that had the word “death,” “ninja,” or “starring Christopher Lambert” on the cover.
Luckily, with the advent of DVDs and cheaper production costs, the stream of bullshit Dtv movies has only increased. One of the more promising of these is Death Grip, the punch-baby of Eric Jacobus (Eric Jacobus presents an Eric Jacobus joint, written and directed by Eric Jacobus, starring Eric Jacobus). Jacobus has thrown a clip online of one of the fight scenes, and it’s stab-ariffic! Martial arts and knife fights go hand-in-hand like me and Chuck Liddell in...

With the theatrical premiere for the indie martial arts action flick Death Grip just a few weeks away, director/writer/lead actor Eric Jacobus has posted a knife fight scene on his youtube channel. The new trailer for Eric Jacobus' Death Grip dispenses with the story in about 10 seconds and then gets on to its real attraction: close-action martial-arts kicking and punching, mostly by a single man against a bunch of guys in hooded robes. And what fighting it is! Jacobus wrote, directed, and edited the film, his second effort; he made his directorial debut with Contour in 2006. Jacobus also plays the lead role. Here's the official synopsis: Death Grip tells the story of ex-thief turned lowly caterer Kenny Zemacus, who checks his autistic brother out of a care home where he's spent the past 15 years since their mother's death. When Kenny reluctantly brings Mark on a last minute museum catering gig that night, Mark unwittingly...

Although I loved Eric Jacobus’ 2006 martial arts flick “Contour”, I’d completely forgotten about the flick until I stumbled across a trailer for the filmmaker’s latest endeavor “Death Grip”. For a low-budget kung fu movie, “Contour” was severely badass, and I suspect that “Death Grip” will be no different. Judging from the trailer nestled below, Jacobus and company have improved their skills tenfold, and the fights look nothing short of spectacular. Keep your eyes locked on this one, as I suspect you’ll be hearing more about it in the future. To be bluntly honest, I was dreading watching this. While visually lush, the acting looked sub par and I wondered how they could pull off a storyline that way. Was this going to be some cheap Joe Mantegna gangster film? Well I'm happy to report it isn't. It does have that sub par acting and the sound needs to be fixed at points, but in the end this is a great, fast-paced gangster flick which leaves no time to dwell on any philosophical or moral ramifications, it just gets right to the ass-kicking point. Done in a sin-cityish film noir style, the characters backgrounds are not flushed out, but fully complete in their roles, and more than adequate for the story. This is a gangster flick and an action film.
