Born Larry Richard Helton, Cincinnati, Ohio Oct. 14, 1954 to Sadie Lee Helton. His biological
aunt and uncle, Belle and Ralph Roberts cared for the 2 month old
after his 2 half brothers and 2 half sisters were taken to an orphanage. He
lived with them as his mother and father until returning from the
U.S.A.F. in 1972 when he was legally adopted in McCreary County, Ky. as Larry Richard Roberts.
Joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968. Serving in England 1969-72. married
first wife Ruth McClelland and had 1 daughter, Natalie, who was born Jan 1,
1970 in the U.K. Married 2nd wife, Sue Stephens, his
childhood sweetheart in Mexico, upon return from England in 1973- 1974.
No children. His 2nd daughter, Michele Colleen Hayes was born 1973.
Attended Northern Kentucky University graduating in 1976 with a degree
in psychology. Offered position as Addiction Therapist at Cincinnati
V.A. Hosp. in Aug. 1978, and worked there until retirement in 2005. Duties included Psychodrama director.
Married Carolyn Sue Tucker (1978-89)and had 2 sons, Matt (1979) and
Kris (1981). Married 4th wife and teen-age sweetheart, Paula Fletcher
in 1993, divorced 2003. First acting role was as Charlie Brown in
"You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. during college career. Began acting
after small part in a made for TV movie, "The Pride of Jesse Hallum." starring Johnny Cash.
Got agent in 1988 and started film, theatre and T.V. commercials.
