Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Ullrich received her Bachelor of Arts in
Mass Communications with a concentration in Film from Emerson College
in Boston, Massachusetts. She freelanced in production for years before
getting a Master of Fine Arts in Film & Video Writing and Directing
from Columbia College Chicago. She is known for making films with
female lead characters for whom neither the conflict nor its resolution
is romantic.
