Netflix has just released the powerfully haunting new trailer for The Piano Lesson. Denzel Washington produces another film adaptation of August Wilson’s plays after he directed and starred in 2016’s Fences. This movie becomes even more of a family affair as Denzel’s son, John David Washington, stars in the drama and it’s directed by another of Denzel’s sons, Malcolm Washington. Malcolm Washington also wrote the script with Virgil Williams.

The cast also features Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Skylar Aleece Smith, Jerrika Hinton, Gail Bean, with Danielle Deadwyler and Corey Hawkins.

Netflix has released the new trailer and poster for the drama The Piano Lesson, which is currently playing in select theaters and will begin streaming on Netflix on November 22.

The Piano Lesson is rated PG-13 for strong language, violent content, some suggestive references, and smoking. It is based on August Wilson’s play.

Denzel Washington and Todd Black produced the movie, which was executive-produced by Jennifer Roth, Constanza Romero Wilson, and Katia Washington. Virgil Williams and Malcolm Washington wrote the screenplay.

Review: Hulu has been making a concentrated effort to give the Horror genre it’s due with plenty of low-budget films with interesting concepts releasing every October as part of their Huluween initiative. While not all have landed, I appreciate the fact that they’re trying something different. Shudder can’t do everything for the horror world. And I was intrigued by the idea of a kid’s television host coming out of the television to murder parents and kidnap children. It’s a terrifying idea with so many possibilities to get under your skin. It comes from an episode of Bite Size Halloween which has now been expanded into a full-length feature film. 1980s nostalgia is out and 1990s nostalgia is in, with the horror genre doling out films like I Saw the TV Glow (review) and now Mr. Crocket, an adaptation of Brandon Espy’s 2022 short of the same name (itself a part of Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween series). Espy’s feature debut sadly sees the filmmaker struggling to find inspiration, working with a pedestrian script despite some impressive gore effects and puppetry.

Back in 2022, Brandon Espy wrote a short horror film called Mr. Crocket for the Hulu streaming service’s Bite Size Halloween series. Now the Mr. Crocket concept has been expanded into a feature length film that is set to be released through Hulu on October 11th, and a trailer for the film has arrived online. Hulu’s set its annual Huluween lineup, which will include Ryan Murphy’s latest FX series Grotesquerie starring Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Travis Kelce. The Halloween celebration features a new season of American Horror Stories and Halloween specials from Solar Opposites and Family Guy.

The final season of What We Do in the Shadows and Reginald the Vampire season two join Hulu’s lineup, along with Hold Your Breath starring Sarah Paulson. Plus, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Happening, and Unbreakable bring the chills during this year’s Huluween event.

Exclusive: The L.A.-based Screamfest Horror Film Festival has unveiled the first wave lineup for its 24th edition, taking place at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood from October 8-17.

The trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson,” starring Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington, has been unveiled. Both Jackson and Washington are reprising their roles from the Broadway revival of the show, which wrapped up its run in Jan. 2023.

The film, directed by Malcolm Washington, follows the lives of the Charles family, led by Doaker Charles, (Jackson) in 1936 during the aftermath of the Great Depression. The family heirloom piano is decorated with designs carved by an enslaved ancestor. One brother plans to build a family fortune by selling the instrument and buying the land his family toiled, while his sister tries to keep it to preserve the family history.

John David Washington plays Doaker’s nephew Boy Willie, a role Jackson himself had originated in the 1987 stage production. The trailer sees Boy Willie telling his niece that the piano represents her family.

Based on the BBC’s BAFTA Award-winning crime anthology and developed by Howard Gordon, Fox’s Accused each season serves up collection of topical and human stories of crime and punishment. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, each episode promises a provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, and with an entirely original cast.

Exclusive: Jerrika Hinton (Hunters) and Elvis Nolasco (Godfather of Harlem) have wrapped lead roles in Mr. Crocket, a horror film produced for Hulu Originals by WorthenBrooks (formerly 20th Digital Studio), which will premiere exclusively on Hulu later this year.

Exclusive: Netflix‘s feature adaptation of the play The Piano Lesson out of August Wilson’s “American Century Cycle” has added six to its cast: Malik J. Ali (Swagger), Gail Bean (Snowfall), Jerrika Hinton (Hunters), Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk), Jay Peterson (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) and Matrell Smith (The Equalizer).

The casting announcement follows Tuesday’s for four-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Erykah Badu, who will make a cameo appearance with musical performances. John David Washington and Samuel L. By Jordan Peele as executive producer, Hunters is in its second season with Al Pacino as maximum attraction of this series about nazi hunters which is appealing because of its aesthetics that are comic strip or “Seventies” look which will not go by unnoticed.

It is not by chance that this is a series with an unmistakeable Peele look, maximum exponent of the “new horror film”. Doubtlessly, this makes it special as well as the very unique way in which absurd is combined with a a series plot that at the same time is a very deep denouncement in social issues.

A very different, entertaining, funny, aesthetic and theatrical series that has a truly spectacular end of season in store for us. Not to be missed.

Review: It is rare to see a television series go out on its own terms after such a short time on the air. Despite premiering three years ago, the second season of Hunters was delayed due to Covid-19. After so many years away, the dramatic series about Nazi hunters in the 1970s returns with a vastly different sophomore season which also serves as its last. I enjoyed the first season of this pulpy exploitation thriller, but I loved the second despite it feeling like a wholly different series.

The group of Hunters is once again teaming up to search for history’s most infamous Nazi, in the newly released trailer for the second season of Prime Video’s Hunters.
