Universal Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for “M3GAN 2.0,” the anticipated sequel to the 2023 horror-comedy hit. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 27, 2025.

The teaser, which debuted during the 2025 Grammy Awards, features the AI doll M3GAN performing her signature dance moves to Chappell Roan’s “Femininomenon.”

The sci-fi thriller M3GAN (read our review Here, get a copy Here) was such a financial success when it reached theatres in January of last year, it didn’t even take Universal Pictures and production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster two weeks to announce that they’d be re-teaming for a sequel. M3GAN 2.0 is set to reach theatres on June 27, 2025, and now we’be gotten our first official teaser, which you can watch embedded above. Recently, Entertainment Weekly unveiled a couple first-look images! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

Based on a story crafted by producer James Wan, M3GAN was directed by Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant). Johnstone returned to the helm for the sequel, and Cooper has written the script.

The first film has the following synopsis: She’s more than just a toy. She’s part of the family.

M3GAN was a bigger hit than expected in 2022 and Blumhouse is acting quickly to capitalise on the movie's box office success. Along with a sequel about the killer doll titled M3GAN 2.0, an erotic-thriller spin-off, SOULM8TE, is also in the works.

So, you could call it an all-new MCU (M3GAN Cinematic Universe). "I am terrified to imagine what that would mean. What is the Thanos equivalent?" star Allison Williams tells Entertainment Weekly (via FearHQ.com). "Let's just keep going as long as they're interesting and each one has its own story to tell."

While plot details are being kept a secret ahead of the sequel's release in theaters next year, director Gerard Johnstone teases, "I had actually a different idea for the ending of M3GAN, which would've been interesting but probably not as satisfying. Blumhouse’s M3GAN franchise will expand with an upcoming sequel as well as a spinoff movie titled SOULM8TE, but today we’re here to talk about next year’s sequel M3GAN 2.0.

M3GAN 2.0 arrives in theaters on June 27, 2025, and Vanity Fair has shared a first-look sneak peek in an article this morning that previews all of 2025’s biggest new movies.

The outlet describes the photo they shared as follows: “Violet McGraw (returning as M3GAN’s human fixation) beholds the prop bot alongside the film’s lead puppeteer, Adrien Morot.”

The sci-fi thriller M3GAN (read our review Here, get a copy Here) was such a financial success when it reached theatres in January of last year, it didn’t even take Universal Pictures and production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster two weeks to announce that they’d be re-teaming for a sequel. M3GAN 2.0, which is set to reach theatres on June 27, 2025, has already wrapped production – and producer Jason Blum and returning star Allison Williams were both at the New York Comic Con to hype the sequel up a bit. During the Blumhouse panel at Nycc, Williams said M3GAN 2.0 is bigger and more expansive than its predecessor.

According to Nexus Point News, an animated series centred around Deadman is in the early stages of development, though the site notes that no writers or scripts are currently in place and the show has yet to receive an official green light.

Remember the dancing yet murderous doll, M3GAN? Well, she'll soon be back in an upcoming horror film called M3GAN 2.0. This is the sequel to the box office hit M3GAN, and we can't wait to see it when it hits theaters on its (new) release date, June 27, 2025.

We first learned of a potential sequel back in November 2022 when The New York Times reported that Universal (the studio behind the film) was happy with how M3GAN turned out and was looking to make a second film. Then, in January 2023, M3GAN director Gerard Johnstone confirmed that talks were being had about a sequel in an interview with Collider. In that same interview, James Wan, writer and producer of M3GAN, mentioned that he had an idea of where a second film would go.

First up is the thriller The Woman in the Yard, which was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but was bumped out of that date so the Blumhouse reboot of Wolf Man could move from this October to January 17th. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing the film, which stars Danielle Deadwyler of The Devil to Pay and Till, Okwui Okpokwasili of The Exorcist: Believer and I Am Legend, and Russell Hornsby of The Hate U Give and Fences.

Universal Pictures on Thursday announced release dates for three major genre titles, revealing at the same time that two of its most anticipated sequels will shift on the calendar.

It was probably only a matter of time before Atomic Monster and Blumhouse announced a sequel to M3GAN after the critically-acclaimed sci-fi horror movie performed very well at the box office, and we found out last January that M3GAN 2.0 was officially in development.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Ahsoka star Ivanna Sakhno has joined the cast. No details on her character were provided, but it is said to be a "major role." Sakhno joins the original movie's stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw.
