Selected by Chambers USA every year since 2005, Best Lawyers in the USA since 2019, and by Super Lawyers since 2008 as one of the best Entertainment Lawyers in New York City, Jacobson built his unique practice by focusing on his two passions: film and music. He handled films like Conviction (2010) with Hilary Swank & Sam Rockwell, Texasville (1990), and _All's Fair(1989)_, represented Oscar Nominee Rip Torn for many years and is now Executive Producer of the final film in which Dennis Hopper appeared. He Executive Produced Junction (2013) which was included in two of the top ten lists of indie films for 2013. He represents Linda Yellen, Nick Stagliano, Bonnie Timmermann Belton Lee Chris Bongirne, Stewart Rein, Markus Barmettler, Jimmy Webb, Paul Kurta and many others. He previously represented the estates of George Gershwin & Ira Gershwin, Elvis Presley and Duke Ellington and important songwriters such as Shakira and Annie Roboff. He also held senior executive positions at several major Internet companies, including Prodigy Internet, politics.com, sonicnet.com and turbochef.com. He was co-CEO of Direction by Appointment, Inc., a company focused on Talent, Brand Management and Consulting in the music and entertainment industries, and was Co-CEO of Music by Appointment, a music supervisor and publishing company with an emphasis on film & TV scores, producer/writers and singer/songwriters. Jacobson is also the Founding Chairman of the New York State Bar Association Section on Entertainment Arts & Sports Law, testified before Congress and WIPO regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and was Adjunct Professor of Entertainment Law at Fordham University Law School, CUNY Law School and The New School. He taught film financing classes at the New York Film Academy and regularly appears on panels for numerous bar associations. He is licensed to practice law in New York, California and Florida.
