Robin Thede as Priscilla and Preston Davis as Eliot
As any regular reader of AfterElton.com already knows, one of the biggest issues we have when it comes to gay visibility in popular culture is the lack of gay men of color in our popular culture. That makes me especially happy to report that Bet's new webseries Buppies includes a gay storyline — and one that the network is trying to get the word out about.
Buppies (a spin on the word "yuppie") follows five African-American friends trying to make their way in black Hollywood. One of those friends is Eliot, a sports agent and the "perfect boyfriend", who is dating Priscilla, a magazine editor.
Spoiler Alert!
Three of the webisodes have aired so far and in the third we meet NFL football star Truth who appears to have some unfinished business with Eliot as you can see here.

Now, after the lawsuit has been dropped in court and both sides are calling it a misunderstanding, the series is finally set for release after signing a deal with Bet.com for a November 3 launch. The series first popped up on our radar over a year ago when we talked to Ali and her sister Anastasia, who had just shot the project as the first original from their indie production co, HazraH Entertainment. The pair teamed up with writer-director Julian Breece, whom Tatyana had met while both were at Harvard, and crafted a series that feels like Sex and the City for a young black generation,...
