"Keep your head down, Dutchman." Epic Pictures Group has revealed the official US trailer for a Dutch / German production called The Forgotten Battle, a WWII action thriller movie about a big battle in The Netherlands. It's now set for a VOD release in the US starting in August this summer - not hitting theaters at all. It's 1944, during the Second World War. The Allies have captured the port of Antwerp but the Germans still control the Scheldt estuary. A British glider pilot, a Dutch boy fighting on the German side and a Dutch female resistance member all end up involved in the Battle of the Schelde. Their choices differ, but their goal is the same: freedom. Their choices will shape destinies, impacting not only their freedom but also that of others. As technology is spreading its tentacles in as myriad ways as it can be possible, the fallouts are being documented cinematically as well to underline mindless adoption of technologies by humans. Danish film The Takeover is one such film in the category.
The year was 1993. We were watching Demolition Man (1993) starring Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock. There was one scene where for the sake of love making Sandra Bullock wore a contraption and asked Sylvester Stallone to wear the same as well and experience the magic of love making without actually doing it. Sylvester Stallone’s character just pulled off the contraption and exclaimed – if love making is to be done like this then it is a matter of disgrace. It was a cinematic visualization of where and in what form could technology lead to!

Netflix continues to push into local content, producing its first Dutch film, war drama “The Battle of the Scheldt,” in partnership with local broadcasters and other backers.
Alain de Levita is producing the Dutch-Belgian picture through his Levitate Film banner. It will be in movie theaters in the Netherlands in November 2020, and on Netflix – where it will be branded as a Netflix Movie – in the U.S. and the rest of the world. Production is about to get underway on the $15.5 million war film, which will be helmed by Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr.
Set in late 1944 and shot in Dutch and English, the film centers on the bloody but crucial battle that claimed 10,000 lives but secured supply lines for the Allied forces’ push to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany. It follows the lives of three people involved in the conflict: a young Dutchman fighting for the Germans, a stray English...
