He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2010 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Science. He is the Professor of Particle Physics and Royal Society University Research Fellow at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England.

Is a particle physicist and professor at the University of Manchester. He is also a member of the team on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

In a previous career he was the keyboardist in the synthpop dance band 'D:Ream' who performed at the 1997 victory party of the New Labour at the Royal Festival Hall, London, England.

He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2020 Queen's BIrthday Honours List for his services to promotion of science. He was a Professor of Particle Physics at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England. He was a resident of London, Greater London, England.

I'm mainly interested in making Britain a more scientific nation. Science and engineering should be celebrated and promoted. We spent more on bailing out the banks than we've spent on science since the time of Jesus! And yet we're the nation that created the Industrial Revolution.

The universe and astronomy are the easiest sell in the world. You're talking about galaxies of a hundred billion stars and moons of ice with oceans below the surface - it's not hard to get the public interested.
