Ian Pirrie(I)
- Director
- Writer
- Cinematographer
Born 5th January 1965 during a severe snow storm which may have some connection to his stormy personality. Ian has always been passionate about film, from the age of five he used to sneak out of bed and go to the living room late at night while his family slept and watch subtitled foreign movies with the sound turned down. His birth names are Ian James Cameron Pirrie, the middle names from two uncles and no connection with the legendary film director.
At school he struggled with reading and writing due to Irlem Syndrome a form of dyslexia and he also had ADHD which resulted in his first school being intolerant to his behavior and they subsequently expelled him. Fortunately the state school he joined had many children on a similar spectrum so he felt well at home there.
As soon as he was able to hold a camera he became obsessed with photography and super 8 but sadly only a few of the photographs have survived over time.
In 2005 he achieved a Master Degree in filmmaking and went on to assist in over thirty productions in various roles including sound recorder, post production sound, editor and cinematographer as well as directing his own short films.
In 2020 during the Covid Lockdown he wrote and shot a music video performing all the parts with the use of split screen, except for the drummer. He then edited and released it on Youtube.
Now in pre-production for his latest drama short film "The Bird Whisperer" and in late development for his first feature film set for production in late 2022.
