Exclusive: Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) and Laura Slade Wiggins (Shameless) have signed on to star alongside Landon Ashworth (Space Force) in Go On, a fantasy drama marking Ashworth’s feature directorial debut, which will enter production in New Mexico in September.
Marking Ashworth’s first produced feature screenplay, the film follows two strangers on a remote mountain, scorched by forest fires, as they help each other process baggage from their previous lives so they can transition to the afterlife. Ashworth crafted the screenplay after losing his very young cousin, Landon Bellm, to suicide.
“Having my feature film directorial debut be my own screenplay which addresses real, meaningful, and relatable issues is an honor,” Ashworth told Deadline. “Also, having the opportunity to work with Vincent is beyond a dream come true. I’ve followed his career for over a decade and knew he needed to play the co-lead of this movie.

"The world changes one heart at a time." Catch the official US trailer for a movie musical version of a stage show about a workers revolt called Stand!, directed by Canadian filmmaker Robert Adetuyi. This Canadian musical is actually about America and a workers strike in 1919. The music, lyrics and score are by Danny Schur (of Made In Winnipeg: The Terry Sawchuk Origin Story) and the film features Lisa Bell’s show-stopping performance of the protest song "Stand!" An immigrant Romeo & Juliet battle for love and a better life during a time of social upheaval, in this musical is set against the true story of the general worker strikes of 1919. The film stars Marshall Williams, Laura Wiggins, Lisa Bell, Gregg Henry, Erik Athavale, Paul Essiembre, and Hayley Sales. This looks like a good story about the workers rising up and fighting back against vile greed and wealth. Maybe it's time we do this yet again!

The series, which was conceived as both a spiritual successor and a sequel to the original Narcos, sports an admirable 88% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating audiences will be happy to see it return to the small screen for yet another round of drug trading.
The show first aired on Netflix back in 2018. Starring Michael Peña alongside Diego Luna, Tenoch Huerta Mejía and Alyssa Diaz, it centers on the illegal drug trade in Mexico during the origin of the modern day War on Drugs. Tension arises from economic and personal conflict between various cartels, as well as the government forces trying to apprehend them.

"What I'm about to tell you is going to be very difficult to understand..." Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the first trailer for horror sequel Along Came the Devil 2, a follow-up to the horror film from last year about possessed woman. Writer/director Jason DeVan returns again for this next one, which seems to tie in loosely to the first. After receiving an unsettling voicemail, Jordan returns home, looking for answers, only to find her estranged father and even more questions. A demonic force has attached itself to the town and no one is safe. The only one who seems to know anything is the small town's Reverend, of course. The horror sequel stars Laura Wiggins, Bruce Davison, Mark Ashworth, Cassius DeVan, Tiffany Fallon, and Heather DeVan. Doesn't look like this is going to be any good? Nothing new here. Even before the opening credits on Katt Shea’s “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase” wrap up, the film’s bent toward modernizing its heroine, a teenage super-sleuth approaching her ninetieth year in existence, is clear. This Nancy Drew is a ripped jeans-wearing, longboard-riding, smartphone-toting young woman, and she’s even got a peppy theme song that kind of says it all in its own title: “More Than Just a Girl.” Nancy, of course, has always been more than just a girl — that’s kind of the whole deal with Nancy Drew — but over a decade removed from her last big screen outing, she’s a girl in need of a little jazzing up. That doesn’t mean it goes down easily, and while star Sophia Lillis has the kind of plucky enthusiasm that befits any iteration of the character, she’s expected to perform inside an awkward bubble that...

"There's gotta be an explanation! So what do we know?" Surprise! Warner Bros has debuted the first trailer for Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, a new Nancy Drew movie produced by Ellen DeGeneres that we didn't know much about before this dropped. This small town mystery stars Sophia Lillis, who also played the young Beverly Marsh in It: Chapter One, as "Nance". WB last made a Nancy Drew movie in 2007 starring Emma Roberts. A bit of an outsider struggling to fit in to her new surroundings, Nancy and her pals set out to solve the mystery, make new friends, and establish their place in the community. Also starring Linda Lavin, Sam Trammell, Andrea Anders, Zoe Renee, Mackenzie Graham, and Laura Wiggins. This latest Nancy is a longboard-riding know-it-all, which seems like a perfect update nowadays. Here's the first official trailer for Katt Shea's Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase,...

"There once was a girl... no one dare speak her name." Paramount has debuted a new trailer for the horror sequel Rings, the third film in the Ring series, originally a remake of the Japanese horror series. This film is finally, supposedly, being released in February this year, after being delayed from late 2016. The second film was released in 2005, three years after the first Ring hit theaters in 2002. This new one picks up 13 years after the first film and it looks like it's just as freaky. Starring Laura Wiggins, Aimee Teegarden, Johnny Galecki, Lizzie Brocheré, Alex Roe, Zach Roerig, and Bonnie Morgan as Samara. There are always Academy Award hopefuls that just sort of slip between the cracks. This year, one that isn’t quite getting the love it deserves is 20th Century Women. Initially thought to be a major player, it has seen its star shine a bit less bright than expected, despite being of the highest quality. We’ll see if Oscar rescues it, but on Wednesday, it hits screens for a small qualifying run in advance of a bigger release to come. The film is able to both make you laugh and also bring a tear to your eye. All told, it’s one of 2016’s better movies, plain and simple. If you’re still totally unaware of what this one is about, let me help out a bit. The film is a comedy/dramedy (so, a dramedy, though it’s more serious than anything else) centered around a trio of...

Everyone’s favourite spooky drowned child Samara is back, and this time she’s determined to strike terror into the hearts of as many people as possible.
Laura Wiggins, Aimee Teegarden, and Johnny Galecki star in Rings, which finds its protagonist discovering a “movie within the movie” that supposedly kills the viewer seven days after watching it. Of course, very bad things begin...

In 2002, Gore Verbinski’s “The Ring” burst into theaters and frightened audiences everywhere with its cursed videotape featuring the creepy otherworldly girl Samara that can crawl out of the screen. It became one of the highest grossing films of all time, making $249 million on a $48 million budget, and opened the door to a string of Japanese horror remakes. Though its 2005 sequel “The Ring Two” came and went without much fanfare, a high-tech update to the celebrated horror film will be in theaters just in time for Halloween.

Earlier today, the New York Film Festival let loose with another announcement in regards to their 2016 slate. This follows on the heels of picking Ava DuVernay’s documentary The 13th as the Opening Night selection, of course. The Centerpiece has now been selected, and it’s 20th Century Women, the new movie from Mike Mills. I’ll confess to it not being one I had pegged for Nyff, or at least not one of the big galas, but this certainly makes it a contender to pay attention to. It wasn’t on my radar as a huge Oscar player before, but it’s definitely going to be getting some extra consideration now. The film is a comedy centered around a trio of women in Southern California during the late 1970s who experience both freedom and love in all of its forms. The lead appears to be single mother Dorothea Fields...

The sequel to The Ring has been pushed back until 2016.
Rings, the third full entry in the psychological horror franchise, was initially scheduled for November 13, but has now been delayed, according to Variety.
The movie stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Big Bang Theory actor Johnny Galecki, and is set 13 years after the events of The Ring.
David Dorfman, Aimee Teegarden, Laura Wiggins and Zach Roerig also feature.
From Paramount Pictures and directed by F Javier Gutiérrez, the movie originally went by the name The Ring 3D.
Back in 2005, a short film in the same horror series was also called Rings.
Taking place just before the events of The Ring Two, it followed a young guy (Final Destination 3's Ryan Merriman) who struggles to cope with visions of Samara and tries to pass the curse on to someone else before his seven days are up.

At what point must we hold art accountable for whatever dangerous ideas or actions it may incite? It's a question that's plagued artists and consumers of art since time immemorial -- and "Law & Order: Svu" tackled it head-on on Wednesday (Feb. 26).
In the episode, titled "Comic Perversion," "Svu" did that "ripped from the headlines" thing they do so well, taking on the 2012 controversy surrounding comedian Daniel Tosh and his ill-advised rape jokes -- making clear where the show and its writers stand on the debate that's troubled the comedy world ever since.
Standing in for Tosh in the "Svu" world is Josh Galloway (played to the sleazy hilt by Jonathan Silverman), a hack frat comedian who we meet during his set at Tsu. As the drunk bros in the crowd eat up his every misogynistic word, Renee (Skyler Day, a familiar face from last season's "Girl Dishonored" episode) and others from her S.

Since premiering in January of 2011, the U.S. adaptation of Shameless (based on the successful British show) has made us laugh, cry, gasp, and fall deeply, irreversibly in love with the scrappy Gallagher family – warts and all. For all its over-the-top schemes and its obvious love for shocking its audience, the show brings some much-needed attention to the struggles faced by American families who are barely getting by. While deadbeat dad Frank (William H. Macy) may be the lynchpin of the family and the show, the true heroes are the kids, including noble step-in mother figure Fiona (Emmy Rossum), slacker genius Lip (Jeremy Allen White), and our personal favorite, gay aspiring soldier Ian (Cameron Monaghan).

Ah, the stilted acting, the ludicrous plotting, the labored scripting. If it's Saturday night, that can only mean one thing: Lifetime is premiering a new original movie.
On Saturday (Sept. 28), the network released unto the world its latest shlockfest, "The Cheating Pact." A brief rundown of the plot: It's time to take the CETs (which is the made movie fake version of the SATs) and for Heather Marshall (Daniela Bobadilla, "Anger Management") it's bad news because her family is broke and her scores can't get her any scholarships for college. She and bad girl best friend Kylie (Laura Ashley Samuels) trick brainiac outcast Meredith (Laura Wiggins, "Shameless") into taking their re-tests for them in exchange for money, which she desperately needs to help pay for her brother's physical therapy.
All goes according to plan until pesky guidance counselor Ms. Walters (Played by Jamie Luner, in what might be the biggest joke of the film.

So here we are, at the Season 3 finale of Shameless, one of the most ambitious, frenetic, and utterly wrong shows on television today. It's been a great season overall (especially since episode five, when things really started cookin'), but how did the season finale - not always the best ep of the bunch, let's be honest - stack up?
Let me just get this out of the way - out of ten Old Styles, I'd give this episode:
Or, as Frank Gallagher would call it, "brunch".
We start with Frank (William H. Macy) in jail (having taken the fall for the robbery he got Carl to commit with him), where a very large black man approaches him and starts to undo his pants. Frank moans, "Again?" and it turns out the guy has to use the toilet. Ha! Probably the only funny prison rape joke I've seen all year.

Oh sweet mother of mercy what a show. Sorry that this is late coming, but I was busy yesterday catching up on the earlier-than-expected third season of Game of Thrones - I'm proud to report that the 3,284 dueling clans of that dirty-haired epic have nothing on the destructive power of the Gallagher family. I'm in it for the laung haul!
Let's begin.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) tells Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) that he looks like a baby rabbit when he sleeps. She's still maneuvering the whole "moving to Ann Arbor" thing, and her latest solution involves her getting a job there and moving with all the kids. Jimmy is So into the idea.
Downstairs, Mandy (Emma Greenwell) wakes up Lip (Jeremy Allen White), who slept on the couch, to tell him she wants to get to school early so she can steal tater tots from the cafeteria for Mickey's wedding. There are...

The episode begins with Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) contemplating a cockroach on his toothbrush.
It all kind of goes downhill from there.
Fiona (Emmy Rossum) asks Jimmy for advice on her outfit, and he asks if she's going in for an office job or a coke orgy. What, there's a difference? She clearly isn't temping at AfterElton! [rimshot]
Meanwhile, Frank (William H. Macy) is settling in nicely at the home of Christopher Dahmer, the John Wayne Bates of the Greater Chicagoland area. Christopher is the kind of guy who laughs out loud at Garfield: "He's always so hungry!" He's also the kind of guy who has a taxidermied dog in his breakfast nook, serves an alcoholic a Bloody Mary at breakfast, and is probably keeping about a dozen tween corpses in his crawlspace. Just sayin'.

Step into the Gallagher home on the Burbank, Calif., set of Showtime's "Shameless," and one is immediately impressed by the attention to detail.
The interior is vintage early 20th century Middle America. The off-white eggshell walls are dinged and dented. The moldings around the doors and windows are covered in glossy, light-green paint, with the brush strokes visible. In the bathroom stands a vintage 1920s porcelain pedestal sink complete with rust stains. And in the kitchen, the refrigerator is beaten up and the paint chipped.
"It's very important that it all feels like a house, that it feels cozy, that it doesn't feel fake," Emmy Rossum, who plays eldest daughter and de facto mother figure Fiona Gallagher, tells Zap2it. "That's why when we were in our rehearsal process, we actually used the fridge as our fridge. We would make lunches for the kids out of there, and it was all kind of real feeling.

With "Twilight" wrapping up this year, and "The Hunger Games" proving a giant hit, the hunt is on for the next big young adult movie franchise. And we suspect that of all the projects brewing, "The Mortal Instruments" has one of the best chances. The book series by Cassandra Clare has sold millions of copies across its four novels (plus two more in a spin-off series, "The Infernal Devices") to date, as many as any of its competitors. And since the movie version started development, the books' fervent fan-base has come out in force for any tidbit on the project.
