Neon has released the first teaser trailer for Keeper, the latest horror movie from Osgood Perkins, who has been carving out a name as a modern-day master of scares following the likes of The Blackcoat's Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Longlegs, and The Monkey.
Keeper stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor), and follows a couple as they "escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm (Sutherland) suddenly returns to the city, Liz (Maslany) finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets."
The unsettling teaser doesn't reveal much, simply showing various women in different locations (and possibly timelines) looking towards the camera, before things take a very dark turn.

FIlmmaker Osgood Perkins is delivering his next horror movie later this year. To tease its arrival, an eerie teaser trailer has just been released.
From Neon, Keeper is slated for a release on Nov. 14, 2025. For Perkins, it's a follow-up to The Monkey, the Stephen King adaptation the filmmaker released earlier this year. Perkins is also known for helming Longlegs, last year's horror thriller starring Nicolas Cage as a serial killer. Now, fans can see what he's got up his sleeve next by checking out the new trailer for Keeper below.
There's still a lot that's not known about Keeper, which is being touted as a "dark trip from Osgood Perkins," and the teaser doesn't exactly share a lot of info about the plot. It does feature some shots of the movie's various characters, and the imagery seems to get increasingly more disturbing. A woman can be heard saying close to the end of the video,...

Neon did a great job putting together intriguingly strange marketing material for director Osgood Perkins’ horror film Longlegs last year, and it paid off, as the film earned more than $125 million at the global box office. Over $74 million of that was the domestic haul, making that film Neon’s highest-grossing release domestically. The marketing for Perkins’ Stephen King adaptation The Monkey was less intriguing, but the movie still did fine when it was released this past February, pulling in almost $64 million worldwide. Coming up next from the Neon / Perkins collaboration is the dark trip horror movie Keeper, which is expected to reach theatres by the end of the year, possibly on November 14th, and Neon is once again coming up with an interesting marketing campaign. It began with the promotional video “It has no end,” embedded above. Now, a poster for the film has been unveiled, sporting the tagline “I don’t like you anymore.

The Insidious franchise is coming back for more scares. Even though producer Jason Blum once said the series would take “a very long rest” after the fifth movie, plans clearly changed. Now, a sixth film is in the works, and it looks like the story is heading in a whole new direction.
According to a report from NexusPoint News, the next movie still doesn’t have a title, but it does have a release date. It was originally going to come out on August 29, 2025, but now it’s set for August 21, 2026. Filming is expected to begin on September 15, 2025, and for the first time, the franchise is moving production to Melbourne, Australia.
The change in location is a big one. The earlier Insidious films were mostly shot in California, and The Red Door was filmed in New Jersey. Shooting in Australia could mean this movie is doing something totally different.

The Insidious franchise is far from done scaring fans. Even though producer Jason Blum once said the series would take “a very long rest” after the fifth film, things clearly changed.
In May 2024, Sony Pictures confirmed a sixth Insidious movie was on the way. Now, a few new details have finally been revealed, and things are already looking pretty different.
The upcoming film, which still doesn’t have an official title, was first set to hit theaters on August 29, 2025. But plans shifted, and it’s now scheduled for release on August 21, 2026. According to production notes, filming is expected to start on September 15, 2025, in Melbourne, Australia.
That’s a major shift for the series. The earlier movies were mostly filmed in California, while The Red Door took place in New Jersey. This will be the first Insidious film shot in Australia. On top of that, none of the previous cast members have been confirmed to return.

After a decade of making short films, Sean Byrne made his feature directorial debut with the captivating and disturbing 2009 horror film The Loved Ones. We had to wait several years for his second movie, but it was worth the wait: The Devil’s Candy, which had its festival premiere in 2015 but didn’t get a wide release until 2017, was another great horror film. Now, Byrne has finally made his third feature, a shark thriller called Dangerous Animals, and IFC Films is gearing up to give it a theatrical release on June 6th. During an interview with SFX magazine, Byrne said he aimed to bring back classic edge-of-your-seat- suspense with this film, which he described as “Wolf Creek on water.”
After the theatrical run, Dangerous Animals will be making its way over to the Shudder streaming service.

After making The Blackcoat’s Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel, filmmaker Osgood Perkins joined forces with the production and distribution company Neon to bring his fourth film, Longlegs into the world. That film was a major success, earning $128 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of less than $10 million, making it Neon’s highest-grossing release – and by the time it was released, Perkins and Neon were already working on their next collaboration, the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey. That one wasn’t as successful as Longlegs, but it still did well, and earlier this month, Perkins and his producing partner Chris Ferguson launched their production banner Phobos with backing from Neon, signing a first-look deal with the company. Deadline reported that, “under the first-look deal, Neon will house films that Perkins writes and directs, as well as those he produces for other filmmakers.

Take Jaws, throw in a bit of Saw, add some Room and The Silence of the Lambs, a little Point Break, plus a touch of Gidget, and voila! Osgood Perkins, the director of modern horror gems like Longlegs and The Monkey, continues to consolidate his position as one of the genre's most interesting visionaries. His latest project, Keeper, is shrouded in secrecy, but the film's distributor is once again proving they are the masters of modern film marketing. Following an exciting announcement of a deal they have put together with Perkins, Neon has released an unsettling video that teases the director's upcoming movie and its bizarre marketing campaign. Things are about to get weird.

Osgood Perkins is becoming something of royalty in the horror category as the offspring of one of the most iconic names in the genre, plus carving out his own path with a directing career. Perkins is well established as a director, but his star rose further recently with the atmospheric serial killer film Longlegs and his latest dark comedy horror film The Monkey, which was based on a Stephen King story. Now, Perkins is being given the keys to the low-to-mid-budget horror kingdom as he signs a new deal with Neon and launches his own banner.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Perkins is now partnered with Neon on a first-look deal and he has launched Phobos — a new film banner that he will be running with his partner Chris Ferguson. Per THR, “Under the deal, Neon will serve as the home for Perkins’ projects, which he and Ferguson will produce.

Neon is moving up in the world (winning Best Picture twice will do that) and has formed its first ever first-look deal with a filmmaker. It’s fitting and perhaps unsurprising that it’s none other than “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” director Osgood Perkins.
As part of his new first-look deal, Perkins has also launched a production banner he’s calling Phobos. Alongside his partner Chris Ferguson, the projects that Perkins and Phobos produce for other filmmakers will be included in the first-look arrangement with Neon, as will any of the movies Perkins himself writes and directs. All the films will be released theatrically in the U.S. by Neon, and Neon will also represent the international sales rights on those titles.
Perkins will continue to work with producer Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Range.

After striking box office gold together with both Longlegs and The Monkey, Neon and Osgood Perkins will be staying in business together with Perkins’ new horror movie Keeper later this year, and the relationship doesn’t end there. Variety reports today that Neon and Perkins are both making the smart decision to continue working together in the years to come.
In addition to launching his own production banner titled Phobos, alongside Chris Ferguson, Perkins has also signed a first look deal with Neon. What does that mean, you ask?
Variety details the deal as follows: “Perkins and Ferguson will jointly produce upcoming projects, with Neon serving as the home for films that Perkins writes and directs, as well as those he produces for other filmmakers.” Variety also notes in today’s report, “Neon will release the films theatrically in the U.S. and represent the international sales rights.”

Neon will release the features theatrically in the U.S. and represent the international rights. Perkins will continue to work with producer Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Range.

Neon will also release Perkins’ next film, Keeper, in October. A teaser trailer for the movie will drop on YouTube on Wednesday at 12.06Pm Pt.

Wanna find something fun to do while on vacation? Take an adventurous swim with sharks courtesy of Tucker’s Shark Experience! An “in-world” website has been released for the tourist attraction of Jai Courtney‘s character in Dangerous Animals. While the trailer is played fairly straight, Courtney looks to be chewing more scenery than the sharks, and the website is just as tongue-in-cheek, with the review section showcasing concerned customers.

With that date drawing near (and 2 months after we saw a teaser trailer), a full trailer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Tanner Buchanan, Garrett Wareing and Quvenzhané Wallis have been tapped to star in a supernatural horror thriller “Hide and Don’t Speak,” with “The Beast Within” helmer Alexander J. Farrell directing.
Range Media, which produced “Longlegs” and “The Monkey,” is shepherding the feature with Mister Smith introducing to buyers in Cannes.
In “Hide and Don’t Speak,” six teenagers “play a terrifying viral Japanese game in which the players summon a vengeful spirit for a deadly round of hide-and-seek,” the synopsis reads.

One of the scariest horror films of 2024 has found a new streaming home – but there's a big catch. Neon's Longlegs, the feature from Osgood Perkins about an FBI agent's hunt for a deranged serial killer, is now available to watch for free on Kanopy, a little-known streaming service that provides free films and television shows to people with library cards. The film is also streaming on Hulu, but this gives viewers without Hulu a chance to catch it for no cost.
Longlegs is currently available in Kanopy's library; in order to sign up for the free service, users must enter their public library card number or a university student ID. From there, Kanopy allows users to watch a certain number of films and television programs for free, much as they would do if they were checking out a book at a library. The first official teaser trailer for the upcoming horror-thriller Dangerous Animals showcases Jai Courtney of Suicide Squad as a disturbed shark-obsessed serial killer.
Director Sean Bryne's latest horror-thriller project, Dangerous Animals, is coming to theaters on June 6th, 2025. This will be Byrne's third feature film, preceded by The Devil's Candy (2015) and The Loved Ones (2009). Both films were very well received with Rotten Tomatoes critics scores of 93% and 98% respectively.Alongside Courtney, the film will additionally feature performances by Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) and Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy).
The short teaser doesn't show much but does create a terrifying atmosphere. It shows Courtney as the killer who's trapped Harrison's character, Zephyr. Ominously, a woman's scream can be heard throughout the trailer.

The release of The Monkey marks a continuation of Stephen King's long and weird film career. Directed by Osgood Perkins, the film reaches far back into King's past for material, now joining the ranks of other King adaptations like Carrie, The Running Man, and The Shining. However, as it turns out, Perkins isn't the first to bring this supposedly untouched short story to life. Kudos to you X-File fanatics who recall the episode “Chinga” in 1998, which used this same plot.
As part of a special series in Season 5, creator Chris Carter recruited some ringers to guest write. The result was an unofficial adaptation of King’s 1980 short story, “The Monkey,” swapping out the cymbal-clutching monkey for a creepy, haunted, Victorian Doll. Perhaps for legal reasons, the story was modified, concealing the origins. But enough of the core elements remain to trace the provenance of "Chinga." That short story is...

Quick LinksWhat Is 'The Monkey' About? How Does 'The Monkey' Connect to the Stephen King Universe?
The Monkey is the most recent big-screen adaptation of a work by Stephen King. Written and directed by modern horror auteur Osgood Perkins, The Monkey is, however, unlike any other Stephen King movie you've seen. Boasting dark humor and extreme gore, the film is a scary statement about our species' relationship with death, all under the premise of a cursed toy that can cause mayhem at the pace of its drumming abilities.
It sounds far-fetched, but it's exactly what Perkins aims for with his unique take on the Stephen King short story that can be found in the 1985 anthology Skeleton Crew. However, fans of the author should not fear Perkins' manipulation of the story to make it all a bit more cinematic. You will find plenty of King's spirit in The Monkey, as funny...

Quick LinksWho Dies the Most Gruesome Death in 'The Monkey'?'The Monkey's Best Kill Is Bee-utifilly Absurd
Just one year after unleashing the breakout horror smash Longlegs upon the world, Oz Perkins seems poised to make lightning strike twice with The Monkey. And while Perkins’ new film doesn’t match the ominous atmosphere of his previous work, it does allow him to further showcase his range as a director and to deliver big laughs alongside his now-signature scares. In fact, it’s every bit as much a comedy as it is a horror film.
Based on a Stephen King short story of the same name, The Monkey revolves around, you guessed it, a wind-up monkey that, whenever activated, brings death upon a random individual. It’s a premise that, on paper, could easily verge on self-parody, but Perkins wisely leans into the absurdity of it all.

The Monkey marked the second-biggest opening for Neon, but the film simply didn’t make enough money to outperform Captain America: Brave New World. The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe repeated as the No. 1 movie at the box office over the weekend with an estimated $28.2 million domestically. However, filmmaker and star Osgood "Oz" Perkins' The Monkey still managed to bring in $14.2 million to secure second place.
Captain America 4 dropped a staggering 68% between its first and second weekends of release, but the Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford-led superhero flick still managed to attract audiences, particularly on Saturday, Feb. 22. That marked the only day over the weekend that Sam Wilson (Mackie) and President “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk’s (Ford) film managed to bring in more than $10 million ($12.8 million). Now, in fairness, it's been a rocky road for the MCU over the last couple of years at the box office.

The Monkeywriter and director Osgood Perkins opens up about the close-to-home inspirations for the film.
Speaking to Variety, Perkins openly discussed his personal relationship with death, specifically the deaths of his parents, Psycho star Anthony Perkins and model Berry Berenson, who passed from AIDs and as a passenger on one of the flights tragically hijacked on September 11, 2001, respectively. "I'm certainly writing from an autobiographical place, given that I sustained some pretty insane kind of deaths in my life," Perkins said.

Stephen King's work is complex and often allows different theories, especially for the work that has been adapted to the big or small screen. His latest adaptation is The Monkey, which is based on his 1980 short story of the same name.
The Monkey comes from Osgood "Oz" Perkins and stars Theo James in a dual role as twin brothers Bill and Hal, as well as Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, Adam Scott, and Elijah Wood. The film follows the two brothers whose lives are affected by a cursed toy monkey that goes on a killing spree. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, James addressed a popular fan theory and shared his own thoughts on why it doesn't work.

Theo James flirted with the horror genre many times in his career, doing action horror in the Underworld franchise and apocalypse horror in 2018's How It Ends. 2025 provided the actor with a different horror subgenre — dark comedy horror with The Monkey.
The film comes from Longlegs' critically acclaimed director Osgood "Oz" Perkins and is based on Stephen King's 1980 short story of the same name. At the same time, the director has taken a lot of liberties with King's short story, adding a dark comedy twist to it. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, James further explained what was the inspiration for the film, aside from King's works.

The Monkey director Osgood Perkins has commented on the film's singular views about death. Perkins' latest opened on Friday, but those who were lucky enough to catch a preview know that it depicts death as the end of the journey under a frame of absolute mayhem and satire. If you have a problem with people dying on screen, you should probably skip The Monkey. It gets… messy.
Perkins spoke to Cinema Blend about The Monkey, and while not many horror films feel thought-provoking, the director thinks you should be more aware of the inevitability of death. He also believes that his movie is no different from any other horror feature in terms of what the characters ultimately face:
"In a sense, every horror movie is essentially about that, right? Like, you're gonna die, you're gonna see how – by chainsaw, or a ghost is gonna get you, or you're gonna get possessed or something.
