The single serves as her first release with her new label partner Republic Nashville, a division of Republic Records. Shania also released a video for the single, which was directed by Isaac Rentz.

Shania Twain parses her career in a new documentary premiering on Netflix on July 26. Not Just a Girl chronicles the life journey of Twain, who grew up with modest means in Timmins, Ontario, before becoming one of country music’s most popular and influential artists.

Directed by Joss Crowley, the documentary includes new interviews with Twain, along with insights from Lionel Richie, Avril Lavigne, Orville Peck, and Kelsea Ballerini. “Taking the risks to do things your way can be scary. You gotta be brave,” Twain says in the trailer for Not Just a Girl.

Shania Twain’s “Not Just a Girl,” a new, career-spanning documentary produced by Mercury Studios and directed by Joss Crowley, will be available Tuesday, July 26 on Netflix.

According to the announcement, the doc “takes viewers from her humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, where she was raised poor and inspired by the story of Dolly Parton, through her initial record label signing in Nashville, and onto her career-defining moment meeting her future husband and rock producer Mutt Lange ahead of writing, recording and releasing her breakthrough album ‘The Woman in Me.’” It features studio session footage from throughout her career and brand new interviews with Twain at home, and discussing her forthcoming sixth album.

So says Shania Twain in a voiceover to open the trailer for her new Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl as a yellow convertible cruises down a road against the backdrop of snow-dusted mountains, presumably in Switzerland where the music superstar has lived for years. The career-spanning doc hits the streamer July 26 and features the Grammy winner opening up about her life and career.

“She was the first person to break that door open and go across the music genres,” says Lionel Richie in the doc. “She was that trailblazer.” In addition to interviews with Twain and Richie, the trailer features such faces as Diplo, Orville Peck, Kelsey Ballerini, Bo Derek and more. In one flash of a scene, Twain is seen speaking to Taylor Swift on FaceTime.

YouTube has unveiled a trio of UK originals that will aim to provide profiles on three British talents through the lens of observational documentaries.

Together We Rise: The Uncompromised Story Of Grm Daily is a four-part documentary on grime and rap YouTube channel, Grm Daily, through the eyes of founder Posty. It drops September 28.

The series is produced by Warner Music Entertainment, with Kate Shepherd and Laura Collins executive producing. Theo Williams is the director, while Joss Crowley produces.

Renowned Films will make How To Be: Anne-Marie, a single film that will profile the singer-songwriter Anne-Marie as she emerges from the coronavirus pandemic.
