Exclusive: Milana Vayntrub has boarded the Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming movie Project Hail Mary, joining previously announced cast members Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the film from a script by Drew Goddard. Producers include Amy Pascal via Pascal Pictures; Gosling via General Admission; Lord, Miller and Aditya Sood via Lord Miller; Rachel O’Connor via Pascal Pictures; and Andy Weir.

In Project Hail Mary, which is based on The Martian author Weir’s novel of the same name, middle school science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. He must figure out how to complete his interstellar mission to save Earth from an astronomical catastrophe completely alone, until he meets a mysterious alien who has traveled light years to save his own species from the same fate.

Eko, the media company formerly known as Interlude, has returned with yet another clever piece of interactive content. It has teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Olive Bridge Entertainment for That Moment When, a comedy series directed by Legend Of Neil creator Sandeep Parikh.

That Moment When stars actress Milana Vayntraub as Jill, who consistently finds herself in awkward situations. In the premiere episode, she stands opposite a mystery man played by Parikh, who remembers her name even though she does not recall his. By making choices throughout the ensuing dialogue, viewers unlock letters of Parkih's character's name while also altering the present narrative. Ultimately, the episode's conclusion knits together the various plot points the viewer has chosen in a satisfying a compelling manner.

Parikh's Legend of Neil was a seminal comedy from the web series industry's early days, and with his latest work, he's once again delving into fresh territory.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center today announced the lineup for Convergence, its highly anticipated immersive storytelling program, which will run October 1–4 as part of the 54th New York Film Festival. It includes two U.S. premieres and one world premiere amongst the nine interactive works, as well as five panels from innovators of the field.

As we learned from one of Community’s best ever episodes, Ken Burns’ heralded documentary films are also ripe targets for parody. Now, Machinima is taking aim at Burns’ signature filmmaking style with a series called Real Fake History, a mockumentary that pretends pop culture stories are historical events.

Each episode of Real Fake History dives into a different pop culture franchise. Across ten installments, the series will visit everything from Starship Troopers to Game of Thrones to Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. The first episode, however, treads upon the familiar nerd territory of Star Wars by examining the Battle of Endor. Digital star and producer Sandeep Parikh has a new web series out that’s sure to give you some comedic insight on just exactly what policemen do when there’s nothing to do. Parikh and comedian Mel Cowan star as two cops who are just trying to pass the time during their routine, unexciting shift in Code Five.

Created by Parikh and writer Ed Brubaker, Code Five introduces viewers to Triggs (played by Cowan) and Sam (Parikh), who are on what the series’ description calls “the longest stakeout ever.” In the debut episode, Sam asks Triggs to listen to his “bustin’ in” speech to see if it’s threatening enough for a cop. Triggs meticulously picks apart Sam’s inflection during the crucial last bit of the speech, and then the two try to come up with better (but very unimpressive) alternatives.

Parikh has lots of previous experience with comedic web series.

A fun video that we missed yesterday during all the Halloween festivities popped onto our radar today so if you're suffering from the post-holiday blues, why not spend a few minutes with "The Real Housewives of Horror"?

The video comes to us from Nerdist's YouTube Channel, and it follows five of the most murderous women in the country as they enjoy the gory and gruesome lifestyle that only horror can provide.

The cast is comprised of Brea Grant, Harley Morenstein, Briana Lane, Jessika Van, Brooke Seguin, Zack Pearlman, and Laura Ortiz. After the success of the show Desperate Housewives, Bravo decided to bring the concept of the show into reality, launching The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2006.  Further proving that television viewers just can't get enough of being a fly on the wall of the housewife's home, that show launched a thousand spin-offs, everything from The Real Housewives of New York City to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills filling out Bravo's daily programming schedule.  To say the least, housewives have taken over television... and I can't exactly say that's a good thing, for folks like ourselves.

Do you miss The Legend of Neil as much as we do? The multiple Streamy Award-nominated Zelda spoof was one of the first web series to achieve mainstream popularity, but we haven't seen anything from our favorite autoerotic-asphyxiating gamer since October 2010's season finale. From Sandeep Parikh to Felicia Day, The Guild has launched careers for a number of its actors, but it has also created work for the people behind the camera. Fans didn’t have to wait long to feast their eyes on the latest music video from hit web series The Guild, which unveiled the to a ballroom full of over 1600 wide-eyed fans at Comic-Con on Saturday. There aren’t too many other people who embody the spirit of web entertainment as well as Sandeep Parikh. Parikh is all over the web: as an actor on marquee web series The Guild, writer-director of Atom’s Legend of Neil and creator of his own website, EffinFunny. Already a celebrity to hundreds of thousands of fans, Parikh’s popularity keeps growing each year. Now, with Neil’s final season premiering yesterday on Atom, Parikh is set for the next big stage of his career: writing for television. Following its world premiere at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, the third and final season of Streamy Awards nominated Legend of Neil launched today at Atom.com. The premiere marks the first blind script deal for series creator Sandeep Parikh with on-air partner Comedy Central. Alex Albrecht, Streamy award-winning co-host of Revision3's Diggnation and Totally Rad Show will be directing a project off a script selected from a contest at Scripped.com and produced by crowdsourced funds from IndieGoGo. So not sure how many of you know but I follow a web series with Felicia Day called The Guild. Felicia Day was also in Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has made appearances in Dollhouse, Monk, Lie to me, House and just finished a movie called Red.

The Guild is an American comedy web series created by Felicia Day, who also stars as Codex. It premiered on YouTube on July 21, 2007.   Future webisodes premiered on Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace, Zune Marketplace, and MSN Video. The webisodes were later made available on the official Guild website, YouTube, and iTunes. In April 2010, Microsoft renewed the show for a fourth season.

The show revolves around the lives of online guild "The Knights of Good" who play countless hours of an unspecified Mmorpg video game.

Returning for a third glorious season, Felicia Day's uproariously funny, knowing net comedy continues to gleefully poke fun at online gaming culture, serving as a benchmark for webisode series and a veritable how-to-guide for net based short filmmaking. Sure why not, in the midst of all the pomp around TV upfront season with networks announcing their fall lineups, web TV network Atom.com unveiled its shiny new slate of comedy web series today. There’s a lot to digest here, so we’ll start with just the news. As we reported earlier Atom’s flagship comedy The Legend of Neil returns for its 7-episode third season this summer and Nytvf-winning series Johnny B. Homeless has a 9-episode pickup starting June 15. The slate actually begins today, with the premiere of M'Larky from creator Dan Fogler who stars as detective Black in a cop show well past its prime. Josh Warren stars as Detective John M’Larky, who with “his maniacal colleagues who go undercover in their pursuit of booze, broads and Colombian drug runners.” Also set to appear in the series are Gilbert Gottfried, Jeffrey Ross and Tony Hawk.

In a constant effort to improve the accessibility of Streamy-nominated content to members of not only the voting body of the Iawtv but to the public at large, the International Academy of Web Televison hosted bi-coastal Streamy Awards finalist screenings on March 11th, 2010, with one occurring in New York and the other in Los Angeles (which was also streamed live via Stickam). Lazy Sunday has to be credited as one of the breakout viral videos that launched YouTube into a household name. (Ironically, it’s not actually on YouTube any more – just Hulu) The SNL Digital Short was one of the first from Lonely Island crew after Andy Samberg joined the cast back in 2006. Illeana Douglas may be quite the name in web series circles now, especially after landing six Streamy nominations for her popular comedy Easy to Assemble, which just wrapped its second season earlier this year. It even spawned a spinoff series Sparhüsen, which nabbed its own Streamy nod. The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.

This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.

Academy voters had their hands full this year in pairing down some 2,000 web shows submitted from fans in over 100 different countries. With President’s Day weekend behind us it’s now time to think about some late Valentine’s Day presents. In case you want to pick up something extra for your valentine or you completely forgot to get something at all, a great movie on Blu-ray or DVD makes a perfect gift. Fortunately, there’s some new ones coming out this week just in time.
