Samsung Electronics America, Inc. announced today the return of the annual Samsung Charity Gala, which will be held on November 2, 2017 at the Skylight Clarkson Square in New York.

At the same time, Samsung is proud to unveil this year’s list of supported charities, as well as the roster of celebrity guests who will be on hand to show their support for Samsung’s charitable initiatives.

Entering its 16th year, Samsung’s philanthropic platform – Samsung Gives – remains committed to helping young people discover a world of possibilities. To date, Samsung philanthropic efforts have contributed more than $60 million, helping more than 1,200 schools, hospitals, and foundations throughout the U.S.

This annual event brings together luminaries from across the worlds of entertainment and business to help raise awareness for a variety of important social and charitable programs, with the primary goal of raising funds to help people build brighter futures.

Global Lyme Alliance (Gla), the world’s leading organization dedicated to the research and education of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, announced its third annual New York City Gala raised $2 million.

The funding will support Gla’s mission to advance scientific research leading to a reliable diagnostic test and better treatment protocols, as well as educate both the public and physicians about Lyme disease.

Las Vegas – Michael Bay made a brief appearance at Samsung’s CES press conference before abruptly leaving the stage in a strange moment that left many puzzled. Bay was introduced by Samsung Electronics America president Tim Baxter, apparently to talk about Ultra HD TV. This surprised me. Samsung said at the International CES confab today that its new Oled TV sets make it possible for two people to watch different shows on the same screen at the same time. The company pulls off that trick when viewers wear special glasses, with earbuds, that isolate the program that the viewer wants. It seems the Oled models can handle all of those moving images because the screens refresh 1,000 times faster than conventional HDTV screens. The company says it will show that off in addition to a voice command feature it calls S-Recommendation: Users can use natural language to ask for different programming characteristics, for example an actor they like, and the TV set will offer suggestions based on what’s available on conventional TV, online, and on the DVR.
