Jean-François Leblanc(II)
- Director
- Writer
- Producer
A native of Quebec City (in Canada), Jean-François graduated in Film Studies from the Université de Montréal in 2007. He went on to write and direct the short films "L'ENFARGÉE", "12 HOMMES EN TABARNAK" and "ORDINAIRES", all of which toured festivals around the world. Jean-François then moved on to web series, writing and directing "LE POOL", a 24-episode series spanning three seasons. In 2015, he wrote and directed "LE GARS D'LA SHOP", which, in addition to premiering at TIFF, won three awards at the Gala Prends Ça Court and was selected for more than 20 international festivals. He returns to the web in 2018 as director of "L'ARÈNE", which wins Best Webseries at the Festival de la Fiction de Larochelle and goes on to compete at the Canneseries and Gémeaux awards.
In 2020, "CONNEXION EN COURS" won Best Cultural Diversity Web Series Toronto Webfest and was nominated for the 35th Prix Gémeaux. His fascination with spoken language, masculinity and verisimilitude lies at the heart of his artistic approach, which stands out for its frequent use of improvisation. Like his short film "LE PRINCE DE VAL-BÉ" (2019), his short film "LANDGRAVES" (2020) has a long and distinguished festival run, winning numerous awards including the prestigious TIFF Avrich Award for 10 promising filmmakers, Best Director at the Festival Off Courts Trouville, as well as Prends Ça Court, Macabro and Fantasia.
