Even if you haven't seen Netflix's "Inventing Anna" or Hulu's "The Dropout," chances are you've stumbled onto a podcast devoted to breaking down Anna Delvey (real name Anna Sorokin)'s infamous cons or scrolled past a TikTok or Twitter thread recounting disgraced Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes's fraud case.
For about four years, from 2013 to 2017, Sorokin scammed just about everyone she encountered to maintain the faux lavish lifestyle of a German heiress, from banks and hotels to the friends she met along the way. Meanwhile, Holmes, the founder of biotech company Theranos, deceived investors and patients for over a decade about the viability of her blood-testing device, the Edison, claiming it could run dozens of tests on a single drop of blood. She raked in millions in funding knowing all along the technology simply didn't work.
Sorokin and Holmes were convicted of fraud in 2019 and 2022, respectively, and their TV dramatizations followed soon after.

"The Dropout" has begun unraveling the fraud scandal behind Elizabeth Holmes's tech company Theranos. The new Hulu limited series, which premiered on March 3, debuted three new episodes upon its arrival, introducing the many players involved, both voluntarily and involuntarily, in the healthcare startup's scheme. One character that sticks out in episode three is former Theranos chief design architect Ana Arriola (played by Nicky Endres). Arriola only lasts four months with the company, but many are wondering what happened to them after their departure.
Prior to joining Theranos, Arriola worked as a senior product line manager at Apple, where she helped design the first iPhone. As seen in "The Dropout," Holmes poaches them from the tech giant; surprisingly convincing them to join her team before she even got Theranos's product to work. But it's no shock that Arriola eventually grows suspicious of what's happening behind the scenes.

For a second consecutive year, there had been a grassroots movement calling upon Netflix to renew praised multi-camera comedy One Day At a Time. It worked last year, with the Latinx-themed reimagining of the iconic Norman Lear sitcom securing a third-season renewal. But there was no happy ending for this year’s #RenewODAAT Twitter campaign.
Netflix has opted not to pick up the Cuban-American family comedy, starring Justina Machado and Rita Moreno, for a fourth season. The series will be shopped to other networks.
“Along with our studio Sony, we will be exploring other places One Day At a Time can live, and with any luck, we’ll find one,” the series’ developers, executive producers and co-showrunners Gloria Calderón Kellett and Royce wrote in a note to fans. “We had the time of our lives making this show… So while our hearts are very heavy, they also are bursting with appreciation for this amazing experience.
