“The Daily Show” host and senior correspondent Desi Lydic had nothing but praise for Hillary Clinton’s speech at the opening night of the DNC. But, as is always the case with Lydic, that praise came with a bit of a barb.
“I thought Hillary’s whole speech was very moving. In fact, she killed it,” Lydic said on Tuesday night. “Although, it will be ruled a suicide.”
As she maintained a straight face and adjusted her tie, the audience rippled with laughter as more and more people caught onto the joke. They then erupted into applause and cheers for the Comedy Central host.
If you need a refresher in political conspiracy theories, Lydic’s aside was a reference to the death of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster. In July of 1993, Foster’s body was found in Fort Marcy Park outside of Washington, D.C. His death was ruled a suicide.

Lucianne Goldberg, a literary agent who advised her friend Linda Tripp to secretly tape conversations with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, has died at age 87 at her home. No cause of death was given by her son, political commentator and author Jonah Goldberg.
Lucianne Goldberg was a conservative activist whose agency specialized in right-wing books. Tripp took her advice and taped Lewinsky talking about her sexual trysts with President Bill Clinton. Tripp’s 20 hours of conversation were used by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s investigation, which ultimately saw Clinton impeached by the House of Representatives and acquitted in a Senate trial.
Goldberg met Tripp while working on a proposal for a book on the death of Vince Foster, a Clinton aide whose apparent death by suicide raised many questions. Goldberg encouraged Tripp to break Lewinsky’s trust and give the tapes to Starr. Goldberg later said she was glad Clinton had been caught “at something.

Ken Starr, the prosecutor who led the relentless Whitewater investigation into then-President Bill Clinton and whose report on the case revealed intimate details of Clinton’s extramarital sexual relations, died Tuesday in Houston following complications from surgery. He was 76.
His death was announced by his family in a statement.
Nominated by former President Ronald Reagan for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Washington, D.C., circuit, Starr was U.S. solicitor general under President George H.W. Bush. He received his greatest public attention – political opponents might say infamy – as independent counsel during the Clinton Administration. Starr had initially been appointed to investigate the suicide of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster and the Whitewater real estate investments of Clinton.
The investigation would grow to encompass much more than its initial mission: After Clinton denied having “sexual relations” with former intern Monica Lewinsky, allegations of perjury...

“The View” is adding two new co-hosts: former Trump staffer, Alyssa Farah Griffin, as well as longtime contributor to the show, Ana Navarro, who Variety has learned has signed a multi-year deal as a permanent co-host, though she won’t appear every day on the show.
Both women are Republicans and will add conservative commentary to the daytime talk show, though their political brands are vastly different, despite their same party affiliation.
Navarro and Farah Griffin will join moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines, resulting in six co-hosts for Season 26.
Navarro — a fan-favorite on “The View” who identifies as a Republican, but is a staunch critic of former President Donald Trump — has appeared as a weekly guest host on the show, but never officially had a permanent spot at the Hot Topics table until now. Over the years, Variety has reported that she had been in discussions to join “The View,...

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the former Trump White House director of strategic communications, is in final talks to join “The View” as the new conservative co-host of the daytime talk show, Variety has learned.
Multiple sources tell Variety that ABC executives have chosen Farah Griffin, 33, to join “The View” for its 26th season, which kicks off in the fall. She has sat at the Hot Topics table regularly this season, auditioning for one of the most high-profile jobs on TV.
Meghan McCain served as the conservative co-host of “The View” from 2017 through 2021, bringing a rating surge as she got into heated debates with the other co-hosts during the Trump era. Before that, Elisabeth Hasselbeck changed TV in 2003 as the first Republican arguing about the headlines of the day in daytime TV.

FX is giving us another history lesson with a new American Crime Story season, shedding fresh light on the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal with Impeachment.
Tuesday’s premiere begins in January 1998, with Monica (played by Beanie Feldstein) preparing to move from D.C. to New York when she gets a page from her pal Linda Tripp. (Hey, remember pagers?) Linda invites her to lunch at a mall food court, hinting that she may have “a solution to our problem.” As Monica arrives, she doesn’t notice that she’s being followed by men in suits. Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s Impeachment: American Crime Story debut episode.
“Make her stay to watch,” a trapped Monica Lewinsky tells FBI agents of Linda Tripp in a January 1998 Ritz-Carlton hotel room after being snared mere hours before an unknowing Bill Clinton was scheduled to sit down before lawyers. “I want that treacherous bitch to see what she’s done to me,” the Beanie Feldstein portrayed Lewinsky adds as Sarah Paulson’s Tripp stares in something resembling shame in the real life scene depicted in the opening minutes of the opening ‘Exile’ episode of Impeachment: American Crime Story tonight on FX.
Executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Paulson, Alexis Martin Woodall, Brad Falchuk and Sarah Burgess, with Lewinsky herself serving as a producer too, the latest iteration of the Emmy-winning franchise returned with more of the best of the worst of the 1990s.

TV docudramas always walk a fine line between illumination and exploitation. But American Crime Story‘s first installment, The People v. O.J. Simpson, broke the mold by doing the impossible: It gave us a fresh perspective on a story we thought we already knew so well. It had depth, it had nuance, it made us rethink the legacies of infamous media pariahs… and I say all that to emphasize that Impeachment: American Crime Story does none of this.
Despite its lofty pedigree, Impeachment is a disaster: a schlocky, overheated melodrama that’s only a degree or two removed from a Saturday Night Live parody.

"Charlie, there's something you should know..." "I trusted you!" Blue Fox has released an official trailer for an indie mystery thriller titled Through the Glass Darkly, marking the feature debut of producer Lauren Fash. This first premiered at the San Diego Film Festival last year, and also played at the Red Rock Film Fest, arriving on VOD in September. Set in a small town in Georgia called Elrod, the film is described as an "offbeat Southern Gothic thriller." A year after a girl disappears, another goes missing. Convinced there is a connection, Charlie draws suspicion and contempt from local police & townspeople as she stops at nothing to expose its most devastating and darkest secret. Robyn Lively stars, with Michael Trucco, Shanola Hampton, Katrina Norman, Judith Ivey, Bethany Anne Lind, Kerry Cahill, Nicholas Logan, and Vince Foster. This looks quite intense, overloading on suspense and dread to tell this story of dark secrets.

It is perhaps a testament to these anxious, extremely paranoid times that one of the most famous scientists in the country right now is not actually a credible scientist at all. Dr. Judy Mikovits is at the center of the documentary Plandemic, a melange of pseudoscience and baseless conspiracy theories related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite featuring the widely debunked claims that the Covid-19 death toll has been inflated and that masks spread the novel coronavirus, the 26-minute Plandemic went massively viral on social media, thanks in no small part...

Exclusive: Emmy winner Margo Martindale is set to star as Lucianne Steinberger Goldberg in Impeachment: American Crime Story, the third season of FX’s award-winning limited series franchise, which centers on the sex scandal that rocked the Clinton presidency.
Martindale joins Clive Owen as Bill Clinton, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones in the limited series, on which Lewinsky serves as a producer. The role of Hillary Clinton is being cast.
Martindale’s Goldberg, a literary agent and author, met Linda Tripp while working on the proposal for the book on the death of Clinton aide Vince Foster. The two women became friends, and in 1997 Goldberg advised Tripp to secretly record former White House intern Lewinsky talking about her sexual relationship with President Clinton. Goldberg mistakenly advised Tripp that it was legal to record phone conversations in Maryland without the consent of the other party.

On Wednesday night, NBC News reported that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who is currently awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and sex trafficking conspiracy, was found injured and semi-conscious in his cell with two abrasions on his neck. While initial details were sketchy, sources at Metropolitan Correctional Center, the prison where Epstein was being held, suggested to NBC News that the injury was possibly the result of a failed suicide attempt, though investigators have not yet ruled out that another inmate may have assaulted him.

Sometimes with big Hollywood releases, big named actors are seen as the sign a movie will be good. Sometimes that is not the case though, and films like Passengers aren’t received as warmly as would be hoped. So, is Passengers a bad movie? My simple answer to that is no, read on to find out why.
When Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) and Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) are awoken 90 years too early on a spaceship travelling to a new “Homestead Colony” they make the most of the luxury ship and all it can offer. With Jim holding back a secret though and the ship acting strangely, will everything run as smoothly as hoped?
When I saw the trailer for Passengers, there were a lot of assumptions made.

On Monday, The Washington Post reported on comments Donald Trump made surfacing the lunatic conspiracy theories surrounding the suicide of late Clinton confidante Vince Foster, a questionable move by the paper that I'll get to in a minute. In the past, most media outlets would have been loath to print or disseminate a slanderous comment like that in any context, and for the most part, cable news has hewed to that standard, with one exception: MSNBC.

The journals, donated to the University of Arkansas...

This 1998 tale of a sexually voracious presidential candidate was overtaken by real-life events involving a certain Monica Lewinsky

The novel of Primary Colors begins with a disclaimer: "this is a work of fiction … None of these events ever happened." Well, all right, but it's not difficult to make out the parallels between winsome, sexually voracious Governor Jack Stanton (John Travolta) and Bill Clinton; nor between his ambitious, long-suffering wife, Susan (Emma Thompson), and Hillary Clinton. The hair and make-up departments have enhanced the impression, though Travolta's greyed-out eyebrows – and his raspy, Clintonesque southern accent – sometimes veer towards pastiche.
