David Boisclair is an award-winning director who has a bold artistic vision rooted in the blending of genres. For more than twenty years, he has created scripted and unscripted works for motion pictures and television, as well as branded content and music videos, which skillfully combine distinctive storytelling and aesthetics with current production standards.
After graduating with distinction from the Film Production program at Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, and then being invited to join the exclusive Television Direction program at the Canadian National Institute of Image and Sound (L'inis), Boisclair embarked on what has become a prolific film and television career that has earned him respect and recognition for his work and achievements in English and French. He has worked on dozens of sets, both on location and in the studio control room, for several national American and Canadian television and streaming networks. Boisclair is an accomplished and versatile multitasker: his credits include 23 prestigious international awards and nominations, over 500 episodes for 65 productions, ranging from documentaries, comedies, science magazines, and reality TV shows to history magazines, youth programs, TV and streamed specials, live events, and scripted content. The outstanding quality of his work was recognized with two Gémeaux Award nominations from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The first nomination, in the Best Documentary Program or Series category, was for The Hole in my Head, a feature documentary that he created and directed. The second nomination, in the Best Digital Production for a Scripted Program or Series category, was for the acclaimed Canadian series, 19-2, for which he directed a ten-episode documentary series for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). 19-2 was such a hit that Boisclair directed a six-episode documentary series on its international English adaptation for Bravo, Acorn TV, and CTV. He also directed numerous highly critically and commercially acclaimed productions for CBC, such as the French-Canadian version of Dancing with the Stars, entitled Le match des étoiles. For the big screen, Boisclair created, directed, wrote, and produced Ladies and Gentlemen, a short film that launched him onto the international stage. This musical, starring 26 seven-year-olds, had its world premiere as the opening film at The Montreal World Film Festival and brought home the Audience Award for Best Canadian Short Film. The film went on to have a successful theatrical run and was invited to compete in official competition at numerous international top-tier film festivals. Boisclair is currently filming Singing, his feature documentary produced by Southern Sky Films. He is also developing Voices, his 2020 American Documentary and Animation Film Festival nominated feature documentary script with award-winning executive producer Dawn Porter's Sony Entertainment Television/Trilogy Films, Palm Springs Jump!, an unscripted series about Elvis Presley's former desert estate, and The James William Awad Documentary Project, a Blink49 Studios docuseries commissioned by Bell Media for Crave and Noovo. He is also currently developing In Me-Moriam, a dark comedy with award-winning comedian Kathy Griffin featuring Griffin herself, and The Promise, a live event series, in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory. Recently, David directed segments for the 2021 and 2020 TV specials Love in Action on KTLA5. YouTube Originals also commissioned him to direct segments for its livestream special Pride 2021: You Are Everything, hosted by Sir Elton John and Demi Lovato, among others. Produced by JA Films, the special was nominated in 2022 in the United Kingdom for the Royal Television Society Program Awards in the category Live Event.

He is also a member of the International Documentary Association.
