It’s oddly appropriate that grief-stricken widower Ted (David Sullivan) spends most of Jack C. Newell’s “Monuments” schlepping his wife’s ashes around the geographical midpoint of the continental U.S.A. This dippily surreal existential comedy — imagine Quentin Dupieux engineering a head-on collision between “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia” and “Little Miss Sunshine” — feels like it’s born of the exact middle ground between the big-budget escapist mainstream and the hardcore arthouse “coasts” of American cinematic output. It’s in a flyover state of mind.

Any other year, no big deal — there has traditionally been no shortage of Sundance-y, SXSW-y low-budget American filmmaking to which the awful adjective “quirky” can be applied. But right now “Monuments” — which at least has no smirk in its quirk — getting a theatrical release makes a hopeful, daffy case for the U.S. indie still having a role to play in the polarized post-pandemic movie landscape.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Meander, a horror thriller written and directed by Mathieu Turi. It will now get a July 9, 2021 release date in theaters and on on-demand platforms.

The film stars Gaïa Weiss, Peter Franzen and Romane Libert. Weiss plays Lisa, who after getting a car ride from an unknown man wakes up in a tube. On her arm is strapped a bracelet with a countdown. Supernatural teen slasher lacks focus as the story is all over the place. The film takes too long to explain itself and what is going on. Then when it does explain everything, the film has a habit of lumping these types of segments with far too much info to digest at one time. There are several horror titles releasing on DVD and Blu-Ray today. The most notable releases for Tuesday, February 8th include Wes Craven's poorly received My Soul to Take, a chilling production from France titled High Lane, Anchor Bay Entertainment's I Spit on Your Grave and finally, Paranormal Activity 2. This last title has already confirmed a sequel, with High Lane standing out amongst these titles. High Lane promises double terror from terrific heights and from socially isolated cannibals. Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes, Scream series) brings audiences closer to terror in Rogue’s My Soul to Take. In the sleepy town of Riverton, Massachusetts, legend tells of the Riverton Ripper, a serial killer with multiple personalities who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the very night he died.

Why? Legend has it that this man had seven personalities…and only one was a killer.

Wes Craven's poorly received My Soul to Take will move to DVD and Blu-Ray shelves February 8th; pre-orders are available December 21st. This film was made for $15 million, but has only made $14 million of this back through theatre sales (IMDb). Home entertainment sales will be much less than $14 million and in Hollywood, not making back double your investment is considered a failure. Hopefully Craven's Scream 4 will be a better, stronger showing.

Also, the DVD and/or Blu-Ray will offer two alternate endings, Pocket Blu, and Bd Live. More details on the release, including the trailer, are below.

Rogue Pictures released their new action/thriller flick "My Soul To Take" into theaters today,and all the top critics were shut out from pre-screening it. However, we were able to get one from Frank Scheck over at the Hollywood Reporter, and he didn't really have to many good things to say about it. The first few clips from "My Soul to Take" have arrived, sharing some of the tense scenes. In the first clip, Bug is presented with a birthday cake by May before he is suspicious that she thinks he has killed someone.

Another snippet gives a look at terrified Brittany who seems to be hiding from someone in the woods and she is later attacked by The Ripper. The other clip, meanwhile, has a shocking element when a patient, who initially is very silent, suddenly wakes up and screams.

Coming from acclaimed horror filmmakers Wes Craven, "My Soul to Take" begins with a legend in Riverton which says that a serial killer will return to the town to murder the seven children that were born the night he allegedly died. Late last night we posted the first official trailer for Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take. Now, courtesy of IMPAwards, we have a new poster for your viewing pleasure.

My Soul to Take was both written and directed by Wes Craven, and stars Frank Grillo, John Magaro, Nick Lashaway, Emily Meade, Max Thieriot, Paulina Olszyinski, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps, Trevor St. John, Zena Grey and Raul Esparza.

Synopsis: A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.

While it may not be wholly original, the trailer suggests it does have a solid narrative, sprinkled with a few scares, so it should be enough to tide Craven fans over till Scream 4 hits our screens in Spring 2011.

A new trailer for the new Wes Craven suspense thriller My Soul To Take has been released by Rogue Pictures.

The movie tells the story of a serial killer who vows to return from the dead one day and kill the seven kids who were born on the day that he died. Almost two decades later when people begin disappearing, the question of whether the killer has returned as promised arises, and one of the seven kids has to use their knowledge of the situation to try and save their friends.

My Soul To Take is written and directed by Craven, and stars Max Thieriot, John Magaro, Emily Meade, Nick Lashaway, Denzel Whitaker, Shareeka Epps, Paulina Olszyinski, and Raúl Esparza. It's currently set for release on October 8, 2010, and will also be released in 3D.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" is coming earlier this week, with the episode called "Don't Poke the Leprechaun- Shillelagh". In the Friday, May 29 episode, Harper becomes jealous when Alex becomes friends with Max's tutor, ironically named Tutor.

Jerry hires the tutor to help Max pass a test at school, and Alex and Justin start bonding with her. They scheme to get her a permanent job with the family, so they can spend more time with her, but the plan involves Max failing a test. Meanwhile, Alex bets Justin that he couldn't become popular in 10 days or less.

Paulina Olszynski guest stars as Tutor.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" is starring Selena Gomez, Jennifer Stone and David Henrie among others. The movie version, titled "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie", will be premiered on Disney Channel on August 1.
