Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki both found fame before starring on Supernatural, with Ackles on Days of Our Lives and Padalecki on Gilmore Girls. Ackles has embraced voice acting post-Supernatural, voicing Batman in several animated films, like The Long Halloween, Part One. Padalecki continued working on TV after Supernatural, starring as Cordell Walker in the drama series Walker, but the show was canceled after season 4.
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have been notable TV stars for a number of years. Prior to playing Dean Winchester on the hit series Supernatural from 20052020, Ackles was known as a long-time cast member on the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two picks up almost immediately after the teaser at the end of Part One. Bruce Wayne is under the spell of Poison Ivy and Batman nowhere to be found. At least until Catwoman intervenes.
But even as he’s recovering from three months under her influence other problems are plaguing a crime ravaged Gotham City. District Attorney Harvey Dent is being pushed to the edge by his job and the toll it’s taking on his marriage. And the continuing spree of The Holiday Killer has pushed Carmine Falcone to make some dangerous alliances with the likes of Poison Ivy and The Mad Hatter (John Dimaggio). That does not sit well with his daughter Sofia.

While I’m not much of a comic fan, I did enjoy the faux Bruce Wayne/Bruce Lee team up Batman: Soul of the Dragon enough that when I saw Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One pop up I decided to check it out. Director Chris Palmer and writer Tim Sheridan have adapted the 13-part story by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale into two films with the second part out at the end of July.
When a mobster is killed on Halloween Eve, the night before he was going to testify, a young Batman makes a deal with the only two men in Gotham City’s legal system he can trust Captain Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Josh Duhamel; Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.

Warner Animation has been more miss than hit when adapting long comic book serials into a 90 minute or less feature film. Thankfully, they finally learned the lesson and are adapting Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s thirteen-part Batman: The Long Halloween into two films. The first part is out tomorrow and I am quite pleased with it.
The overarching plot has to do with the serial murders of people connected to crime boss Carmine Falcone (Titus Welliver) as the triumvirate of Commissioner Gordon (Billy Burke), District Attorney Harvey Dent (Josh Duhamel), and Batman (Jensen Ackles) all occurring on holidays. The hunt of the Holiday killer propels events as each attempt to thwart the next killing fails, leaving the good guys reeling and Falcone scared.
Set early in Batman’s career, a recurring theme is his lack of skill and experience as a detective. This is hammered a little too hard...

It’s the dawn of a new age of heroes, and Metropolis has just met its first. If there’s one thing DC loves, it’s reboots. The comics cycle through their continuity in one form or another every decade or so, the movies…well…that’s a whole thing, too. So of course now it’s time for the DC animated movies to get a fresh start. And this time, they’re doing it with the hero who should pretty much always be the center of these things: Superman.
Since 2014, there have been 20 DC Universe Animated Original Movies, most of which existed in a shared continuity that began with Justice League: War and culminated in this year’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War. With that story arc now complete, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will set up a new continuity for future movies. Butch Lukic is the new Supervising Producer for these DC movies, with Chris Palmer directing Man of Tomorrow.
