Folks love those Halloween-themed amusement parks — the ones where ghouls dart out of the shadows and monsters lie in wait to scare the bejeezus out of their quarry. But what if a maniacal killer decides to up the realism factor to 11 while the patrons it’s all part of the show?
Here is the first teaser trailer for Hell Fest, in which just a creepy scenario plays out. The logline: College student Natalie (Amy Forsyth) is visiting her best friend Brooke (Reign Edwards) and her roommate Taylor (Bex Taylor-Klaus). It’s Halloween time, so the trio and their boyfriends — like everyone else – are headed for Hell Fest, a sprawling labyrinth of rides, games and mazes that travels the country and happens to be in town. But for one visitor, Hell Fest is not the attraction: It is a hunting ground, an opportunity to slay in plain view of a gawking audience,...

Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury‘s Leatherface is yet another unique interpretation of Texas Chainsaw tonality. This is the beginnings of evil; a moody dive behind the monster’s mask. After The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 introduced a colorful misery, after roadkill grindhouse turned darkly comical, after 2003’s “gritty, dark reboot.” Here, the filmmakers behind Inside, Livide and Among The Living use Seth M. Sherwood’s screenplay to explore what could drive one child to his slaughterhouse obsession – with mixed results.
Though certainly not the franchise’s worst outing, it’s far from an instant classic and in some rather surprising news, it seems as if the origin story will be heading to Blu-Ray a lot sooner than we expected. That’s because we now know that Leatherface will be yours to take home on December 19th.
As far as special features go, there’s not much, but here’s...

As a Southern-strong franchise entry, it’s certainly not the worst (cough – Texas Chainsaw 3D – cough). But as a Bustillo and Maury product? Well, let’s just say we’ve seen them be more aggressive, better inspired and vastly richer when developing human characteristics.

This Halloween, prepare to witness the true origins of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
We are, of course, referring to Leatherface, Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s long-anticipated prequel that has taken on a greater meaning since the death of Tobe Hooper, a recognized mainstay of Hollywood’s horror genre thanks to his involvement in Poltergeist, Salem’s Lot and of course, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which spawned a million nightmares in 1974 with its tale of deranged cannibals residing in America’s Deep South.
Now, almost 45 years since its inception, Maury and Bustillo are prepped and ready to deliver a freaky origin story centering on one of cinema’s greatest movie monsters. Working from a script penned by Seth M. Sherwood, Leatherface is little over a month away from its limited theatrical release, and the folks over at Bloody Disgusting have relayed a creepy new poster to stoke the embers of excitement.

Leatherface and Jigsaw, two horror flicks prepped and ready for this year’s crowded Halloween season, have kick-started their respective marketing campaigns, and they seem to have come at the expense of the local livestock.
Whereas Michael and Peter Spierig’s Saw sequel has incorporated severed pig heads into its suitably creepy character portraits – character portraits designed to spotlight John Kramer’s many disciples more than anything else – the latest one-sheet for Leatherface features a mysterious individual dressed in dungarees. Oh, and they also happen to be sporting a cow’s head for added effect. Because apparently a prequel movie chronicling the origins behind that infamous Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn’t enough to send a shiver or three down our spines.
Directing from a script penned by Seth M. Sherwood, Julien Maury, and Alexandre Bustillo are behind the lens for Leatherface, which is due to premiere via DirecTV in two months’ time.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a saga so embedded in the modern-day horror genre, that it’s almost difficult to imagine a future without it.
Of course, we know that Hollywood is partial to rebooting/resurrecting a dormant horror franchise for a new generation – think of Andy Muschietti’s It, Friday the 13th and, to a lesser extent, Jigsaw – and come October, directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo will carve out a new chapter in the storied history of TCM in the form of Leatherface.
It’s a prequel to Tobe Hooper’s genre classic of 1974, when a group of unsuspecting teens stumbled upon a cannibal family and Leatherface himself, the serial killer famed for wearing a mask made of human skin. Gnarly stuff, by anyone’s standards, and at least based on these new photos for the film, which come to us by way of Bloody Disgusting, the Texas Chainsaw...

This Halloween, Lionsgate is plotting double trouble.
On the one hand, the studio is working closely with Michael and Peter Spierig to rustle up Jigsaw, the eighth Saw movie that’s poised to carve out a new chapter in the blood-drenched lore of John Kramer (Tobin Bell). It’s by no means the only marquee horror picture due to arrive in October though, as Lionsgate and Millennium Films are also preparing the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel movie known simply as Leatherface.
A minimalist, yet instantly recognizable title isn’t the only thing that the two projects have in common, either, as Leatherface is also on the verge of becoming the eighth entry into the Texas Chainsaw series later this year. Pitched as “a brutal and nihilistic road movie,” that sense of legacy isn’t lost on co-directors Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who are working from a script by Seth M. Sherwood.

We're about due for another "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movie. The last one was "Texas Chainsaw 3D," way back in 2013, and it focused on a young woman (Alexandra Daddario) who turns out to be related to the chainsaw-wielding maniac known as Leatherface. That didn't go so well, so the writers for this installment of Leatherface's misadventures have decided it's time to explore how our villain became so downright nasty.
In the movie, three teen inmates from a mental hospital escape, kidnap a nurse, and hit the road. According to Deadline, "they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge," played by Stephen Dorff. Bloody-Disgusting is describing the film as a sort of mystery. So, which of these apples will turn out to be rotten to the core?

When news about the latest stab at a Texas Chainsaw prequel, now simply called Leatherface, arrived, it was that EastEnders’ Sam Strike was being considered for the title role. There’s no confirmation on his status, but Deadline reports that Stephen Dorff is on for a key character. Leatherface focuses on the very early days of the psychopath who will one day don the terrifying mask and swing the rumbling weapon. We meet him as a violent teen that breaks out of a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a nurse and takes her on the road trip from hell. But as they make good their escape, the men are pursued by a deranged lawman that has revenge on his mind. Dorff’s character is the dogged Texas Ranger Hal Hartman who sets out on the vengeful trail. Seth M. Sherwood wrote the script for this one, with Alexandre Bustillo...

Millenium Films’ forthcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel is setting up a new origin story for the franchise’s power-tool wielding baddie – and a new cast of characters to tell it.
Currently titled Leatherface, the movie hit headlines earlier this week with the news that Eastenders‘ star Sam Strike had signed on to play a young version of the psychotic killer. In light of more casting announcements, it seems Strike won’t be the only one with murderous intent.
Per The Wrap, which revealed that newcomer James Bloor had also signed on, Leatherface is described as “a mystery of sorts about three teenage psychopaths, one of whom grows up to be Leatherface.” Bloor will play Ike a “budding young maniac” who, much like Strike’s character Jackson, may develop and at some later point become Leatherface.
As the outlet states, there’s no clear indication as to the nature of this rebooted origin tale.

For somebody to drive a chainsaw through a human body, swing a mallet down on someone's head, and wear another person's skin on their own, they likely had some tumultuous teen years. Though we got a taste of what Leatherface's, aka Thomas Hewitt's, younger years were like in Jonathan Liebesman's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, we haven't had a full helping of those growing pains-filled times, but French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are looking to change that with Leatherface, an upcoming prequel to Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. From Millennium Films, Leatherface will at the very least explore a slice of the titular antagonist's teen life and although cameras haven't started rolling on the project yet, a growing cast is being assembled, with one of the actors potentially set to play the legendary backroads killer.

"EastEnders" actor Sam Strike has scored the role of the young version of Leatherface in the upcoming "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel reports The Wrap.
Events of the film reportedly lead into the 1974 original. Strike plays a teenage version of the character who resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities.
Seth M. Sherwood ("Black Mass") has penned the film which French helmers Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo ("Inside") will direct. The project marks a second prequel in the franchise following "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" which served as one to the 2003 reboot.
Strike dropped hints that he'd scored the lead role in a major U.S. film yesterday, quickly leading to now unfounded speculation that he'd landed the role of Peter Parker in the Marvel-approved "Spider-Man" reboot.

Millenium Films has found a new Leatherface. Multiple sources close to the studio’s planned Texas Chainsaw prequel, simply called Leatherface, confirm that EastEnders actor Sam Strike is in negotiations to pick up the iconic mask and chainsaw.
After the studio’s last attempt to revitalize the classic horror franchise, 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D, was met with paltry reviews that caused it to sink like a stone at the box office, Leatherface finds Millenium hitting the reset button. The prequel will go back to the 1970s to focus on the early years of Jackson (Strike), the young man who will eventually become a masked killer. Strike’s casting, which comes after an extensive search, is major news – the studio is banking on his performance to endear the franchise to a new generation of horror fans.
French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who made the terrific Inside, have been tasked with directing Leatherface.

Just a couple months ago, we learned that a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel was on the way called Leatherface. The story was said to take place before the original 1974 classic horror film, following the teenage years of the chainsaw-wielding killer in the 70s with a script from rising writer Seth M. Sherwood. Now Bloody Disgusting has word that Inside, Livid and Among the Living directing duo Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury have been tapped to direct the prequel finding Leatherface as a teenager in a mental institution with other disturbed young people. So how does this lead to the inception of the killer? Well, a group of kids break out of the institution and end up getting into trouble in the outside world, though no specifics are mentioned. It's the events that happen outside of the institution that will lead to the creation of Leatherface's identity. Carl Mazzocone (Texas Chainsaw 3D...
