Biography

Sanal George is a Mumbai-based sound designer, sound mixer and supervising sound editor, specialising in feature films and web shows. Originally from Kerala, he completed his undergraduate degree in Literature before pursuing a Master's in Sound Design at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. During his studies at FTII, Sanal was honoured with the Asian Film Academy Fellowship in 2013 as part of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, recognizing his meritorious academic performance. He went on to receive the Kerala State Television Award in 2016 for his work on the short film 'Chaver,' and in 2017, he was recognized with the National Film Award for Best Sound Design for the multilingual film 'Walking with the Wind.'

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Sanal has an extensive portfolio that includes collaborations with leading production companies such as Bhansali Productions, RSVP, Roy Kapur Films, Maddock Films, EROS International, Excel Entertainment, India Take One, Breathless Films, Aamir Khan Productions, Balaji Telefilms, Endemol Shine, BBC India, and more. Some of his recent notable projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali's latest feature film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', feature film "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha jiya",Netflix originals 'Heeramandi', 'Aranyak' and 'Mismatched,' where he served as a Sound Designer and Sound Mixer, Supervising Sound Editor.

He has also contributed to a few international projects as a sound mixer, with his most recent international project being the sound mixer for the Indian schedule of Ava Duvernay's feature film 'Origin.' In addition, he has worked on select episodes of documentary TV series like 'Ancient Aliens' on History Channel and 'Explorer' on the National Geographic Channel. As a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts(BAFTA) and Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE), Sanal George continues to make significant contributions to the field, enhancing the auditory experience in Indian cinema and beyond.
