Peter Brunner, born in 1983, is a filmmaker and former student of Michael Haneke. His debut feature film, My Blind Heart, premiered at Park City (Slamdance) and in the Tiger Competition at IFF Rotterdam in 2014, earning multiple international awards, including a nomination for the Golden Frog at the Camerimage Film Festival. His second feature, Those Who Fall Have Wings, won the Special Jury Prize at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2015. Brunner's English-language debut, To the Night (2018), starring Palme d'Or winner Caleb Landry Jones, was praised by THR as "a psychological acid trip of a movie." Following his 2021 horror-drama Luzifer, starring Franz Rogowski, which premiered in competition at Locarno and won the Critics' Prize, Brunner reunited with Jones for the co-written passion project Down the Arm of God, produced by Luc Besson.
