Mike Moss trained as a physician and specialist in the UK and Canada. He was also a part-time medical examiner for many years and lead one of the teams performing victim identification in the aftermath of the Swissair 111 crash off Nova Scotia in 1998. Having researched and written an original screenplay, Remembrance, about the true story of the last Allied soldier killed in WW1, he later participated on location in a documentary film, First and Last, about both the first and last men killed in that conflict. The story line for his next project, Decoding Annie Parker, was based on a close friend of his who has inherited the BRCA gene. She had developed three different types of cancer, surviving them all, and remains a life-affirming inspiration to countless others.
Mike's latest work is another true life screenplay, Jack Howard's War, about Lord 'Jack' Howard, the eccentric and colourful 20th Earl of Suffolk. Mike's father had defuzed an unexploded 1000-lb bomb with Lord Howard during the London Blitz, an episode which is also featured in Mike's book, Mines, Bombs, Bullets and Bridges, based on his late father's WW2 memoirs.
