It’s a screwed up world out there. The economy, environment and society itself are all falling apart, but what can be done? We increasingly turn to technology as the answer, which has its role, but is there a point where technology goes to far?

Jim is a dramatic science-fiction film directed by Jeremy Morris-Burke, a native of Saint Louis, where the film was mostly shot. Jim dwells on the pessimistic perspective of our future dominated by technology, following two stories from different eras, connected by the common theme technology’s effects on humanity. The film begins with a faux commercial — a la Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers or Total Recall — for Gene4, a company that custom designs human genetics. This is an interesting element, but sets the expectation for a tone less dark and somber than we actually experience.

Indie Sci-Fi has produced some killer stuff over the past few years, just take a look at films like the Neill Blomkamp directed District 9 or the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Ricardo de Montreuil‘s short film, The Raven which was recently picked up by Universal Pictures and will be produced by, and star Mark Wahlberg.

Lets hope that first-time writer/director Jeremy Morris-Burke follows in their footsteps with his inaugural foray into sci-fi entitled, Jim. Now here's an interesting trailer for a new crazy sci-fi film called Jim. This looks like an insanely weird movie, and I'm not really sure what to expect from it even after watching the trailer. It seems like it has a complex plot of twists and turns to keep the audience wondering what in the hell is going on. The plot revolves around genetically engineered people, and the film looks like it's going to take audiences on a pretty funky ride. I'm in.

I just stumbled across this trailer last night on Apple and it is so frickin' weird and entirely crazy in every sense (and every scene) that I just had to feature it as today's indie trailer. The film is titled Jim, directed by Jeremy Morris-Burke, and has kind of an elaborate, expansive plot that I can't really explain... But I can tell you it's a sci-fi flick with some genetic research elements and other wacky things. One of the storylines (the other being set in the future) is about a guy who decides to go to a bio-tech firm with his dead wife's eggs to try and create an heir. And that's just the start. Let the trailer build, it goes to some very odd places.
