Exploring old, abandoned buildings, desert dwellings, catacombs and other crumbling relics is one of Denesa's favorite pastimes.

Denesa lived and studied abroad in Ghana, West Africa for a year and traveled alone throughout the continent, picking up some French, Twi and Hausa along the way. She also did humanitarian work in Mexico and Guatemala for which she was threatened with an M-16.

Denesa Chan grew up in the rough and tumble city of Azusa, CA, among recent Latino immigrant families. Her childhood memories are filled with the smells and sounds of homemade tortillas and corn stalks growing in urban backyards.
