In case you happened to miss the exciting if not unbelievable news, filming has officially started on the long-delayed third season of HBO's Euphoria. Cameras began rolling on the highly anticipated season 3 in early 2025, as HBO shared in February a new photo of Zendaya back in character as Rue. The series had been away so long, many wondered if it would ever make it back to air.
But Euphoria defied the odds stacked against it — like strikes, creative differences, and real-life tragedy — to commence production on what HBO's boss has referred to as the likely final season. One last season for the road, a victory lap for the Emmy Award-winning series if you will. We've heard reports about who won't be back, and now we're learning who's joining season 3.

When Sam Levinson's "Euphoria" debuted on HBO, the coming-of-age series quickly became a phenomenon. It provided Zendaya the platform to become the youngest two-time Emmy winner in history as well as the youngest person to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as high schooler Rue Bennett, undoubtedly the role that changed the trajectory of her entire career. Despite its edgy nature, "Euphoria" became a runaway mainstream success, one of the most discussed TV shows on social media, and the launchpad for a new class of Hollywood performers including Hunter Schaefer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Eloridi, Storm Reid, and the late Angus Cloud.
Based on the Israeli series of the same name, "Euphoria" follows troubled teenage drug addict Rue after her stint in rehab, struggling to adjust to her life in Southern California and maintaining sobriety. She meets and quickly falls in love...

Dominic Fike is returning for Season 3 of “Euphoria.”
While he was left off a list of new and returning cast members released by HBO on Friday, Variety can exclusively report that the “3 Nights” singer and actor will indeed reprise his role as Elliot in Sam Levinson’s hit high school drama. Fike is set to shoot a couple of scenes for the show next week, sources say.
HBO declined to comment.
Fike joined “Euphoria” in its second season, which premiered in January 2022. He played a guitar-slinging, drug-addicted teen who befriends Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer), wrapping them up in a messy love triangle and serving as an obstacle to Rue’s sobriety. Fike’s talents as a Grammy-nominated recording artist were highlighted in the Season 2 finale, as Elliot performs an original song on the acoustic guitar for Rue. Fike and Zendaya released a version of “Elliot’s Song” on music streaming services.

Zach Cregger is set to write and direct a new Resident Evil movie, and THR reports that this has sparked a major bidding war among studios eager to acquire the Barbarian director’s next project.
Four studios are reportedly attempting to snag the project, with sources saying Warner Bros. and Netflix are among them. Cregger’s take is being described as “a revamp that will take the title to its horror roots and be more faithful to the initial games.” Jeff Sneider was the first to bring up the possibility of Cregger tackling a new Resident Evil movie back in September.
The Resident Evil franchise first made the leap to the big screen in 2002, with Milla Jovovich starring as Alice. The film was a success and spawned five sequels, which collectively grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. After bringing romantic comedies back to form with 2023’s Anyone But You, Sydney Sweeney is in talks to star in a different kind of comedy for an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. Sweeney is negotiating to star in the feature-length project at A24 and Picturestart, based on the short story by the timeless teller of spooky stories, Edgar Allen Poe. Charlie Polinger is directing, writing, and executive producing the “darkly comedic” take on The Masque of the Red Death, with Lucy McKendrick also serving as an executive producer.
Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, first published in 1842, follows Prince Prospero’s attempts to avoid a dangerous plague while hiding in his abbey. Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger has assembled a strong cast for his mysterious horror project called Weapons, including Julia Garner (Ozark), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Amy Madigan (Antlers), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie), and Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives)… and during an interview with Collider, Garner said that we should not expect Weapons to be “a proper horror movie.”
Most details about Weapons are shrouded in mystery. It has been said that it’s “an interrelated, multistory horror epic” that’s tonally in the vein of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia, and The Hollywood Reporter adds that the story revolves around the disappearance of high schoolers in a small town.

Two Christmas series are trending on Netflix, and they couldn't be more different. Netflix's library contains a diverse array of Christmas titles. The actor teases about her "sneaky cameo" and shares that she has seen Weapons. Without giving away any details, Paxton reveals that the movie is "really, really good" and believes that people will be "thrilled" when it comes out.

Positive test screenings for Zach Cregger’s second film Weapons will reportedly see it released in 2025 instead of 2026.
Ever since Zach Cregger’s debut, Barbarian (pictured above) released in cinemas in 2022 and quickly became one of the most talked-about horror flicks of the year, anticipation has been high for the filmmaker’s second outing as director. From the handsome deal Cregger received from Warner Bros/New Line Cinema to the ambitious nature of the project, everything we’ve heard about Weapons thus far has only served to further stoke anticipation.
The casting is pretty exciting too, placing Julia Garner and Josh Brolin in the film’s two lead spots. The supporting cast isn’t half bad either, given that we’ll be getting Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Austin Abrams and June Diane Raphael on the call sheet too.
Still, 2026 is a way off, but The InSneider (via World of...

Wolfs director Jon Watts candidly explains why he won't be making Wolfs 2 despite the first film's streaming success. Hitting Apple TV+ in September, Wolfs follows two lone wolf fixers played by Brad Pitt and George Clooney as they are reluctantly forced to work together on a job. Though originally slated for a theatrical release, it was announced last-minute that the film would instead bow on Apple TV+, with the sequel confirmation accompanying this announcement. Despite positive Wolfs reviews and viewership success, Watts cast doubt on the sequel happening this past weekend.
During a recent interview with Deadline, Watts now offers more details about why Wolfs 2 isn't happening, explaining that he's responsible for the sequel not moving forward. The director reveals that a fracturing of the relationship between him and Apple is ultimately why the follow-up isn't happening, and this stems from Apple's decision to scrap Wolfs' theatrical rollout without Watts' input or knowledge.

Jon Watts cancelled a planned 'Wolfs' sequel because he "no longer trusted" Apple. The 43-year-old filmmaker's action comedy - which stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney - has become the most viewed feature film ever released on Apple TV+ and while there were plans for a follow-up in place, they have now been shelved due to the director's frustration that the movie didn't get a full theatrical release, instead receiving a limited run before heading to the streaming service.Jon told Deadline: “I showed Apple my final cut of 'Wolfs' early this year.“They were extremely enthusiastic about it and immediately commissioned me to start writing a sequel."But their last minute shift from a promised wide theatrical release to a streaming release was a total surprise and made without any explanation or discussion."I wasn’t even told about it until less than a week...

Wolfs (2024), the new Apple TV+ movie, has an ending that cleverly throws a last curveball your way. If you, like me, were so engrossed in drolling over George Clooney and Brad Pitt in that all-black attire, you might even get confused about how this silly job gone wrong caper leads to the final reveal that turns everything on its head.
Directed by Jon Watts, who returns to the real world after making the pretty successful Spiderman trilogy in the MCU, the film stars the aforementioned actors as two fixers who get assigned to clear off a dead body when a high-end District Attorney (played by Amy Ryan) places a Sos call.
In the following article, I will take a detailed look at what happens during Wolfs (2024), carefully analysing what Watts wants to show, what has already happened off-screen, and how that ending really comes together. Please be aware that the article contain spoilers,...

There’s a micro and a macro narrative at work in writer/director Ethan Berger’s fraternity thriller The Line. On one hand, it’s a small-scale drama about Tom Backster (Alex Wolff), a promising young man who begins to question his involvement in a fraternity at prestigious Sumter College. On the grand scale, it’s a scathing indictment of how fraternities – the gateway to influence, success, and politics – are toxic, hypocritical, and ultimately dangerous.
When the film opens, Tom has a reassuring final breakfast with his concerned mother (Cheri Oteri) before heading off to sophomore year. He’s excited about living in the Kna fraternity, reuniting with his loud and boisterous best friend Mitch (Cobra Kai’s Bo Mitchell), and maybe stepping into the shoes of frat president Todd (Salem’s Lot‘s Lewis Pullman).
Things almost immediately go awry when Mitch develops an antagonistic relationship with a pledge...

In his Ama on r/movies, director and co-writer Ethan Berger gamely answered a couple dozen thirsting filmmakers about how he got his script for “The Line” (2023) produced. This is the part where I tell you what he said. And, I must warn you. If you are a filmmaker who wants something produced, you may be disappointed. We always are. We are disappointed because Ethan Berger wrote, in far more humble terms, what they always write: that the actors loved the script.
So, I went into this viewing, of a screener on my television, knowing this. Oh, brother. We got a big great script coming up. Arms folded, on the attack. Thinks he’s Schrader, over here… Well, the script is fabulous. The cast, including Alex Wolff, Austin Abrams, and Halle Bailey, burst off the screen. Suitably ravenous. Outside of the obsessively designed world of Ari Aster’s “Hereditary,” Mr.

Ethan Berger’s debut film The Line shines a light on fraternity culture from the inside. We follow sophomore Tom Baxter through his second year as a member of the fictional Kappa Nu Alpha brotherhood. All seems well until the arrival of a new pledge named Gettys, whose cocky attitude threatens to upset the delicate status quo.
As a writer-director who extensively researched the Greek system, Berger aims to offer an authentic perspective on both the compelling bonds of brotherhood as well as some of the more troubling behaviors that can fester within these walls. Through a tightly crafted script and strong performances, he examines how this environment fosters toxic masculinity, class divisions, and the empty promises of prestige that pressure young men to conform.
The intensity builds from the frat house basement up, pulling viewers deep into this secretive world. We watch characters wrestle with loyalty against conscience as...

Since his star-making role in Ari Aster’s Hereditary, Alex Wolff has crafted a remarkably entertaining filmography, with almost a dozen excellent, challenging performances from Pig to Oppenheimer under his belt before he turned 27. Ethan Berger’s directorial debut, The Line, puts Wolff in another great, albeit understated, role with his look at life in a fraternity.
The Line Review
Tom (Alex Wolff) has fully adopted the persona of a traditional frat guy at an unnamed Alabama university. He’s a reticent frat brother who follows whatever his brothers want of him. As a new rush class comes in, he’s torn between his moral compass as his fellow brothers (Top Gun: Maverick’s Lewis Pullman and Bo Mitchell) aggressively haze an incoming pledge (Austin Abrams).
When tensions rise surrounding the abuse that the potential new frat brothers are facing, Tom meets a confident peer (Halle Bailey) who begins to shift his worldview.

The Line is unpleasant. But then it should be, shouldn’t it? Written by Ethan Berger and Alex Russek and directed by Berger in his feature debut, this is a film about a college fraternity and all of the horrible sins committed in the name of tradition and brotherhood. Alex Wolff stars as Tom, a sophomore with bad grades but a good reputation among his fraternity, Kna. Their president, Todd, has Tom pegged as his replacement. The film takes place during the pledge period in which a new batch of freshmen are tortured and tested so that they might earn the privilege of joining Kna.
One pledge stands out: Gettys (Austin Abrams), a handsome young man with an ego and attitude. Tom’s roommate and frat brother Mitch (Bo Mitchell) quickly hates Gettys. The feeling is mutual. Unfortunately, Todd takes Gettys under his wing, quick to explain to Tom that...

Plot: Tom is a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background. He is charmed by the prestigious Kna fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. But upon beginning a romance with Annabelle, a classmate outside of his social circle, and the manipulative schemes of his fraternity president unfolding during the hazing of new members, Tom finds himself ensnared in a perilous game of ambition and loyalty.
Review: Few cultures have proven as toxic as fraternities and sororities. Over the years, hazing has transformed from comedy fodder in films like Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds to the notorious stuff of headline news. Countless frats across the United States have been shuttered due to criminal activity that has resulted in jail time and even deaths. Alex Wolff recognized himself in “The Line” — or rather, what any American man could be.
The actor leads writer/director Ethan Berger’s feature debut as a college scholarship student who tries to assimilate by joining a frat. The critically-acclaimed film is set in 2014 and spotlights an all-star cast including Austin Abrams, Lewis Pullman, Halle Bailey, Bo Mitchell, Denise Richards, John Malkovich, and Scoot McNairy. Late “Euphoria” star Angus Cloud, who died in 2023, also gives a standout performance in one of his final roles.
“The Line” subtly captures the racism, misogyny, and entitlement that are paramount to college Greek life. But the script, which is co-written by Alex Russek, most poignantly emphasizes the frat brother-on-brother violence of hazing that mirrors the evolutionary masculine animalistic need to exert power in any way possible.
According to Wolff, that abuse of privilege is what makes “The Line” even more harrowingly resonant during an election year: Yes,...

As I watched Ethan Bergers debut feature, my thoughts drifted, thinking about similar stories such as Lone Scherfigs The Riot Club and Andrew Neels Goat. The latter aligns with what The Line aims to accomplish: interrogating American fraternity life. Meanwhile, the former addresses similar themes but is centered on the wealthy aristocrats of British society. This trio of films depicts the grim, almost surreal reality where these young men, potential leaders in society, act on their most basic instincts despite warnings that consequences are imminent.

Writer-director Ethan Berger’s The Line wastes no time confirming all of our worst assumptions about Greek life. The opening credits play alongside photographs of American fraternities over the centuries, the fashions changing but the smirking white faces staying just the same. The very first interaction between Tom (Alex Wolff) and the rest of his modern-day fraternity brothers reveals them to be exactly the sort of big-mouthed, small-minded jackoffs that pop culture usually presents them as.
When Tom is with his fellow frat members, he’s all braggadocio and sexual innuendo. He even adopts an accent that his mother (Cheri Oteri) describes as a “faux Forrest Gump” in order to sound more like them. But while the other brothers are the scions of rich and powerful families—the fraternity loves to boast about how many future presidents and Fortune 500 CEOs the Kna has housed—Tom is a scholarship kid who...

Ethan Berger has made his feature directorial debut with the frat house thriller The Line, which is set to reach select theatres on October 18th, with an expanded release to follow on October 25th. With those dates swiftly approaching, a red band trailer for the film has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above.
Berger wrote the screenplay with Alex Russek, crafting the following story: The Line is a campus thriller that plunges into the dangerous world of college fraternities and blind adherence to tradition. Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background, is charmed by the prestigious Kna fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors. Ethan Berger’s critically acclaimed narrative filmmaking debut “The Line” has had a long road to the big screen. The feature was in development for decade, with lead star and executive producer Alex Wolff eventually proving instrumental in bringing the dark fraternity thriller to the big screen. The film premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, but even with strong reviews, it wasn’t picked up by distributor Utopia until more than a year later.
Now, almost a year and a half since “The Line” first wowed audiences at Tribeca, the film is getting a national release — and should be required viewing for any college-bound kid or university alum.
Berger, who began his career as an editor before directing commercials and writing ESPN’s mini-series “More Than an Athlete,” writes and directs “The Line.” The drama is set in 2014, and centers on Tom (Wolff), a scholarship student who tries to assimilate by joining a frat.

Penelope is Netflix's newest coming-of-age series and represents the first leading role for its young actress. Created by award-winning producer Mel Eslyn and The Morning Show's star Mark Duplass, the show stars a small but talented cast. The narrative follows Penelope, a contemporary teen who feels out of place within her community of peers and decides to escape into the wilderness. Cutting off her family and friends, the teenager enjoys her own and nature's company before meeting fellow travelers who show her what true belonging is.
Although Penelope feels a pull to nature, it is in her found connections that she finds peace and purpose. The Netflix 2024 TV show highlights that nature can teach humans a way back to each other, even in a modern world. Penelope's character represents a severed link that promises to be healed in the trees and through interactions with peculiar characters, like an elder nomad,...

Exclusive: Add this one to the ongoing push-pull between streaming and theatrical. Wolfs, the Jon Watts-scripted and -directed film starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, has become the most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history.
Apple doesn’t break out specifics, but I’m told the film boosted viewership by nearly 30% week over week on the service. It premiered on Apple TV+ on September 27, in more than 100 countries. The film created the biggest viewership spikes in the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
Wolfs stars Clooney and Pitt as “fixers,” shadowy guys who solve thorny problems for the wealthy. These two have to change their lone-wolf habits and work together. The original deal called for a distribution plan that was to start with a wide theatrical release before landing on the streaming service. That got changed to a limited weeklong release before the big streaming bow.

A scene at the very end of Wolfs provides a hint of what the Kid's name might be. Austin Abrams joins Brad Pitt and George Clooney in the Wolfs cast, playing the character named the Kid. He starts the film presumed dead, with the District Attorney, Margaret (Amy Ryan), calling a fixer to clean up his body. It's only after he's escorted out of the hotel and placed in the trunk of a car that Pitt and Clooney's characters realize he's still alive but had an adverse reaction to some drug.
The Kid spends the majority of Wolfs following Pitt and Clooney's characters around, eventually completing the job alongside them. In Wolfs' ending, one of the final scenes shows them all returning to the Kid's house, where the audience is introduced to his father, played by action/comedian Richard Kind. The scene progresses rather quickly, but the limited dialogue offers a lot to consider.
