Graduated from Service High School in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2004.

Was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 2nd round (60th overall) of the 2004 NHL entry draft.

Caused some controversy among hockey fans in 2010 when he notoriously said of Pittsburgh Penguins superstar (and media darling) Sidney Crosby, "he's such a little baby sometimes". The incident occurred during a game between the Penguins and Dubinsky's New York Rangers in which Crosby jabbed Dubinsky with his stick after the whistle.
