There's a Reason Mary Cooper Looks So Similar in 'Tbbt' and 'Young Sheldon'
Image
Since its spectacular debut in 2007, the fan-favorite sitcom The Big Bang Theory continues to attract and entertain audiences all around the globe, with the juggernaut hit going on to become one of the most popular TV shows of all time and launching a lucrative and enduring franchise. Tbbt ran for 12 dazzling seasons and was the recipient of numerous accolades, like 10 Primetime Emmys, with its massive success leading to the development of two knockout spin-offs: Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

The coming-of-age series Young Sheldon serves as a prequel to Tbbt and chronicles the genius Sheldon Cooper's upbringing in the small Texas town of Medford during the late '80s and '90s. Zoe Perry memorably starred as Sheldon's devoted mother Mary for seven seasons, taking over the role from film and TV great Laurie Metcalf, who sporadically appeared as the character throughout the course of Tbbt.

Young Sheldon: Season Five Ratings
Annie Potts, Lance Barber, Zoe Perry, Raegan Revord, Montana Jordan, and Iain Armitage in Young Sheldon (2017)
We don't have to worry about Young Sheldon being cancelled by CBS since it's already been renewed for seasons six and seven. Given what we already know about Sheldon Cooper's young life, it seems likely those will be the final seasons. Still, if the ratings are strong enough, perhaps the show could continue and follow the boy genius to CalTech. Stay tuned.

A family comedy series, the Young Sheldon TV show stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Matt Hobby, and Jim Parsons (narration). Recurring cast members include Wallace Shawn, Ryan Phuong, Melissa Peterman, Wyatt McClure, Doc Farrow, Nancy Linehan Charles, Rex Linn, Ed Begley Jr., Mckenna Grace, Andrea Anders, Mary Grill, Craig T. Nelson, Ava Allan, and London Cheshire. Revolving around the early life of The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper (Parsons), this comedy series follows...

Showtime’s survival drama pilot “Yellowjackets” has added four more players to its cast.

Ava Allan (“Pretty Little Liars”), Courtney Eaton (“Line of Duty”) Briana Venskus (“Sorry for Your Loss”), and Liv Hewson (“Bombshell”), will all play recurring roles in the pilot, alongside series regulars Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

Film News Roundup: James Gunn’s Horror Movie ‘BrightBurn’ Moved to 2019
In today’s film news roundup, Sony moves James Gunn’s horror movie, Craig Sheffer gets a supernatural role, “Best Thanksgiving Ever” gets a release and Annapurna signs a music publishing deal.

Date Change

Sony has moved the previously untitled James Gunn horror project “BrightBurn” back from Nov. 30 of this year to May 24, 2019 — the start of the Memorial Day weekend.

The studio unveiled the name “BrightBurn” on Monday along with the date change. Gunn produced the project with The H Collective. “BrightBurn” stars Elizabeth Banks, Jackson Dunn, David Denman, Meredith Hagner, and Matt Jones. Gunn’s brother Brian Gunn and cousin Mark Gunn wrote the script, with David Yarovesky directing.

Gunn had been set to appear on a panel to discuss the project at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but his appearance was canceled after news broke that Disney had fired Gunn as director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” due to offensive tweets.
