Rebecka Johnston

Rebecka Johnston is a Swedish actor, especially known for her role as Ulrika in Ari Aster's renowned film Midsommar starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Vilhelm Blomgren and Liv Mjönes, among others.
Growing up in the small Swedish town of Lindesberg, Music was in her life from an early age, singing and playing piano as well as the accordion. When Rebecka was 16 years old, she discovered classical music, classical singing in particular. She was later accepted to the Hungarian conservatoire Etud, which brought her to Budapest, something that would lead to the beginning of her acting career.
During her music studies, Rebecka was headhunted by a casting agency for a 7 day role in a commercial. Despite having no previous acting experience, the director Zsombor Dyga was impressed by her work and called her up a year later to offer her a role in his first English speaking feature Run to Ground.
Her great ear for Music gives her a natural ability for Languages as beside her mother tongue Swedish, she also speaks English (RP and standard American), Hungarian, German and some Italian and French. After Completing her opera singing studies in Hungary, Germany and Austria, including a BA at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, Rebecka was accepted at The Associated Studios Opera program where she was introduced to improvisation theatre for the first time. At this time she was cast in her first Hollywood production, Ron Howard's Inferno, which gave her the confidence to focus more on acting.
In 2019 she was cast for the role of Ulrika in Ari Aster's Midsommar, the film has already become a cult classic. Since then, she has featured in several large productions, such as The Alienist (featuring Dakota Fanning, Daniel Brühl and Luke Evans) The Ex-Wife (featuring Celine Buckens) Dance First (James Marsh, featuring Gabriel Byrne) and Fight or Flight (James Madigan, featuring Josh Hartnett and Charithra Chandran), the last two films being released later this year (2023).
Rebecka is studying the Chubbuck technique with Adam Davenport at The International Acting Studio. She has a passion for boxing and Thai boxing and qualified as a personal trainer at The Academy in Sweden. She is also a certified PADI advanced scuba diver.
